We had a ton of coverage of some great prospects from that event. This article takes a look at some prospects from games outside of the tournament. Let’s take a look at the top performers from those games. These young ladies filled up the stat sheets.
Jazarri Henderson | Riverside | ’23
Jazarri is the leading scorer for the Riverside Generals. She is a combo guard that can score at will but looks to get her teammates involved. She is very creative in the paint with her handles and finishes at the basket. She is also good at getting her long arms in the passing lanes on defense creating deflections and steals that lead to easy baskets for her team. Jazarri led her team to their first win of the season against Terry Parker with 15 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist, and 3 steals.
Ansley Hicks | Paxon | ’24
Ansley has had a great start to her sophomore season and is one-half of a dynamic duo for Paxon. She definitely put in some work in the off-season and it has shown with increases in every category, most noticeably in the scoring column. She is the leading scorer for the Paxon Eagles early on in the season. She scores in a variety of ways but the midrange jump shot is her go-to shot. With all the scoring she has been doing this season it’s almost hard to believe that she is known as a defensive player. Ansley is a great on-ball defender and often has to play out of position at the post on defense due to a lack of size on her team. She led her team with 17 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, and 2 steals against Baldwin and 26 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 6 steals against Fernandina Beach. Her team went 2-0 in the second week of the season and improved to 4-0 overall.
Ellie Jackson | Mandarin| ’22
Ellie had continued her stellar play from the preseason. It would be hard for the casual fan to know that basketball is not actually her primary sport. She led her team this week with 21 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, and 4 steals against First Coast, including 13-16 from the free-throw line and 13 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, and 5 steals against Ribault. Her senior leadership has proved invaluable at her team improved to 3-0 in the second week of the season
London Jenkins | Riverside | ’24
London is a speedy point guard and is a ball of energy on the court. It was evident as she filled up the stat sheet with 13 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists, and 4 steals against Terry Parker to help her team get their first win of the season. She has a nice handle on the ball and a good jump that allows her to be able to score on all three levels.
Nykeria Thomas Nykeria Thomas 5'10" | CG Mandarin | 2024 State FL | Mandarin| ’24
Nykeria missed both preseason games but it hasn’t taken her long to get back to where she left off last season. She uses her long, athletic frame to impact the game on both ends of the floor. She helped her team to go 2-0 in the second week of the season with 9 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, and 5 steals against First Coast and 12 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals against Ribault.
Kennedy Waymer Kennedy Waymer PG Paxon | 2024 State FL | Paxon | ’24
Kennedy is the other half of the dynamic backcourt duo alongside Ansley Hicks at Paxon. She is a smooth lefty with an incredible handle on the ball. She can score at all three levels and can play either guard position. She helped her team improve to 4-0 with 17 points, 6 rebounds, 8 assists, and 5 steals against Baldwin and 25 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists, and 8 steals against Fernandina Beach. It’s hard to believe that softball, and not basketball, is her primary sport.
