The Frisco Reedy Lions hosted and defeated the Frisco Heritage Coyotes 50-25 on Tuesday, and the Wylie East Raiders went on the road and earned a 67-42 victory over the Lovejoy Leopards on Friday. Here are some of the best forward prospects from this past week’s action.
Harley Harbour | 2022 | 5’10’’ Power Forward | Frisco Reedy HS – Harbour imposed her will on Tuesday. She scored in a variety of ways down low, showcasing her strength, body control, and soft touch in the paint. The senior captain looked dynamic in the post and was responsible for a number of fancy finishes vs. Frisco Heritage, and even showed that she is capable of attacking the basket off the dribble with a nice Euro step finish. Additionally, Harbour was sneaky good as an interior passer, understanding when to make the extra pass in order to turn a good look into a great one.
Victoria Lafon | 2022 | Power Forward/Center | Lovejoy HS – While I could not obtain Lafon’s exact measurables, she passes the eye test as it relates to height and length. The senior big made a difference on the defensive boards whenever she was on the floor Friday night, controlling the glass at that end of the floor by aggressively going after rebounds and being disciplined about boxing out opponents. Lafon also showed some scoring ability by finishing though contact in the paint.
Ruby Chetty | 2023 | 5’11’’ Small Forward/Power Forward | Frisco Heritage HS – Chetty did the dirty work for Heritage on Tuesday, recording four rebounds and three blocks. Her rim protection caught my attention. The junior combo forward was great about remaining vertical and not biting for ball fakes in the low post. She was a deterrent for her team on defense. Beyond that, Chetty looked good as a rebounder at both ends, and consistently hustled back on defense in transition.
Ainslee Padgett | 2023 | 5’9’’ Small Forward | Frisco Reedy HS – Padgett looked comfortable at the three and the four spot, but she thrived on the wing Tuesday night where she could utilize her athleticism. She was responsible for a couple of nice takes to the basket, finishing with a beautiful floater on one occasion. That said, it was her defense that stood out vs. Heritage. Her length really bothers opposing ball handlers. The junior forward was constantly pressuring opponents when defending on the perimeter and had active hands throughout the contest.
Chloe Schaeffer | 2023 | 5’5’’ Small Forward/Shooting Guard | Lovejoy HS – Schaeffer was the first player of the bench for Lovejoy, entering the game midway through the first quarter. She displayed that she is capable of quickly making an impact by knocking down a three almost immediately after being inserted into the game. The Lovejoy junior was an efficient shooter from the outside, converting two of her three three-point attempts. Furthermore, she showed that she can score against size by finishing a layup high off the glass over a defender with a huge size-advantage.
Leaire Nicks Leaire Nicks 5'11" | SF State TX | 2024 | 6’2’’ Power Forward/Center | Wylie East HS – Nicks was dominant in her Friday night matchup against Lovejoy. She got off to a hot start, scoring the first six points for Wylie East. The 6-foot-2 sophomore showed off outstanding touch near the basket, even when defenders were draped all over her. Moreover, she was responsible for some creative buckets down low that she had to work for. Her rebounding and rim protection were excellent as well, consistently securing boards and discouraging opposing slashers from even attempting to challenge her at the basket. She ended the night with 12 points, nine rebounds, and one block.
Saliz Ward | 2025 | 5’10’’ Small Forward | Wylie East HS – I decided to include Ward with the forwards because that is what she appeared to be playing for the Raiders, but she could very well transition into becoming more of a guard later on in her high school career. She is a skilled underclassman with versatility and a high motor, accounting for seven points, nine rebounds, an assist, a block, and a steal. The Wylie East freshman looked extremely athletic and bouncy, handles the ball well in transition, can complete difficult passes, and converts tough finishes at the basket. In addition, Ward regularly made hustle plays vs. Lovejoy, even when her team was up by 20 points in the fourth. This is a competitor who can do whatever is asked of her at both ends of the court.
