Devon Yarde Devon Yarde 5'6" | PG Hilton Head Christian | 2024 State SC – 2024 – Hilton Head Christian Academy – The starting five for coach Kenny Conroy’s Eagles team came through in a big way, accounting for 73 of the team’s 86 points. Yarde managed to get past defenders and find her way to the rim. On a number of occasions, she was fouled and ended up at the free throw line where she made a number of her tries from the stripe. She managed to also connect on a few 3-point attempts. Yarde has also participated on the cross country team during her time at Hilton Head Christian Academy. She finished with 24 points to lead all scorers and had a made basket from the field in every quarter.
Mike’Ala Washington Mike’Ala Washington 5'5" | CG Beaufort Academy | 2023 State SC – 2023 – Beaufort Academy – When it appeared that Beaufort Academy would make a run to get back in the game, it was Washington’s hot hand that managed to help her Eagles trim the deficit against Hilton Head Christian Academy’s. She managed to score at will – whether it was driving to the rim, hitting her tries from midrange or sinking a few 3-pointers. In addition to her scoring prowess, she showcased how quickly she can get to the rim, her ability to play perimeter defense as well as providing shot blocking. Defensively, Washington showed she can match a ball carrier step for step and keeps her hands up on defense. Washington scored 25 points with at least one made basket from the field in every quarter.
Abby Peduzzi Abby Peduzzi 5'9" | SF Hilton Head Christian | 2023 State SC – 2023 – Hilton Head Christian Academy – She was fouled early in the game and got the Eagles on the board by making one of her two tries from the stripe. Peduzzi is also an efficient rebounder and will disrupt an opponent’s passing lanes with her ability to intercept said passes. Peduzzi also managed a 20-point outing as she scored all 20 of her points in the first three quarters of play. Along with what she has accomplished on the basketball, she has also played soccer as well as volleyball (court and beach) throughout her time at Hilton Head Christian Academy.
Tahleea Heyward Tahleea Heyward 4'11" | PG Beaufort Academy | 2023 State SC – 2023 – Beaufort Academy – Heyward also did a stellar job of keeping her Eagles in the game. She is another of the primary point guards for head coach Andrew Iensuo’s team. Heyward provides plenty of hustle in addition to an ability to get to the rim quickly and will attempt to slap the ball away from an opposing ball carrier. Heyward will also absorb a good bit of contact which can place her at the free throw line. She did connect on a 3-point attempt in the third quarter. Heyward finished with 17 points – 12 of which occurred in the second half of play.
Tamya Hutchinson Tamya Hutchinson 5'4" | PG Hilton Head Christian | 2024 State SC – 2024 – Hilton Head Christian Academy – Hutchinson, after transferring from Estill to Hilton Head Christian Academy, has found her footing as an Eagle. Part of that is because of what she is able to do as a defender. Hutchinson will get through a number of defenders to attack the rim and will change directions with the ball in her hand. Hutchinson got to the free throw line on plenty of occasions and out of the 12 points she would eventually score (which all occurred in the first three quarters), she made six of her eight attempts in addition to three made shots from the field.
