The Nebraska Girls Basketball Showcase is live and it's been a good one! PGH Nebraska is posting live at the event and we're at the 4th quarter of Game three. There are more prospects to mention in the early games that I’ll get to as the event closes.
[player_tooltip player_id="369320" first="Jaide" last="Chandler"] - 5’11 G/F 2022 - Anselmo-Merna - Jaide started a little slow in the matchup versus Cross County but she started heating up in the 2nd quarter. She made steals, turning them into transition buckets. The game went into overtime, where Jaide made plays late in the 4th into overtime. She was getting inside buckets and hit a crucial three. Jaide ended with 25 points, scoring in a variety of ways.
[player_tooltip player_id="369904" first="Olivia" last="Hansen"] - 5’10 G 2023 - Maywood/Hayes Center - Olivia didn’t blow away the box score but she was the best prospect on the court in her game vs. Blue Hill. I had her at hitting one three, as she didn’t force up any shots. I thought she could of fired up a few more threes but she controlled the ball and lead her team with poise and decision making. She’s more of a basketball player than a pure athlete but she still moves well on defense to give pressure on the perimeter. Olivia has good size at a guard spot and is smooth with the ball in her hands.
[player_tooltip player_id="300307" first="Chloe" last="Hanel"] - 5’11 G 2024 - Clarkson/Leigh - Seeing Chloe play in person solidifies her status as a top prospect in the 2024 class. She’s a long and smooth mover on the court. Makes defensive plays and deflections with her length and agility. She's showing she can get to the hoop easily and today she showed she can hit a jumper extended as well.
[player_tooltip player_id="371881" first="Kennedy" last="Settje"] - 5'7 G 2022 - Kennedy plays second-fiddle to Hanel but she’s an impressive guard herself. She got to scoring the ball in the 2nd half. As of this writing she has 17 points at the end of the 3rd quarter.
[player_tooltip player_id="372242" first="Avyn" last="Urbanski"] - 5'6 G 2033 - Northwest - Avyn’s athletic ability is really standing out. Not a big guard, but she moves with speed and power. Plays strong and aggressive. She can shoot the three, handle the ball, and attack the hoop.
[player_tooltip player_id="174469" first="Rylie" last="Rice"] - 5’9 G 2022 - Northwest - Rylie came out firing threes and knocking them down, with 10 points at the 1st quarter mark.
