Joleana Gardner | Columbia | ’25
Joleana is only a freshman but she definitley doesn’t play like one. She is very poised and patient on the floor. She knows how to get to her spots to score. Joleana is a versatile post that can step out and hit jump shots. She is also a good rebounder and defender. She filled up the stat sheet this week in two games. She had 11 points, 12 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, and 3 blocks against Orange Park and 10 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals and 1 block against Hawthorne. Joleana has the potential to be a really good player.
Kamiya Jones Kamiya Jones 5'6" | SG Oakleaf | 2023 State FL | Oakleaf | ’23
Kamiya is a 3-point shooter and if the first couple go in watch out because she can catch fire quick. That’s exactly what happened in their only game in week 5 as she hit 6 three’s to help her team defeat First Coast. Overall, she had 21 points, 2 rebounds, and 1 assist for the game. Although she didn’t need it in this game, Kamiya has expanded her game this year by attacking the basket more and not always settling for the 3-point shot. She is also a pesky defender and good rebounder for her size.
Maddie Millar Maddie Millar 5'9" | CG Bishop Kenny | 2022 State FL | Bishop Kenny | ’22
Maddie is the leading scorer for her team and has scored in double figures in all but one game so far this season. She kept that trend going in her team’s only game this week. She scored 30 points in a win against a tough FSU High School team, including 7-11 from the three-point line. Maddie was 10-14 overall from the field and added 2 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 steal. She was also was 3-4 from the free-throw line in what was a very efficient night scoring and every point was needed as her team held on to win 65-64 to bring them to a 7-3 record in the fifth week of the season.
Na’ Haviya Paxton | Columbia | ’22
After an amazing junior season, everyone knows the name Na’ Haviya and have come out this season with their defenses focused on stopping her from scoring. When you see her play you quickly realize that she is much more than a scorer. In their two games this week she had a total of 15 points but that doesn’t really show the impact she had on the game. Her mere presence on the floor creates open opportunities for her teammates. She had 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals against Orange Park and 10 rebounds, 7 assists and 7 steals against Hawthorne. She is a true floor general and controls the pace of the game. Na’Haviya’s ability to rebound from the guard position is elite and ignites the fast break because she doesn’t have to outlet the pass.
Sophia Rueppell Sophia Rueppell 5'9" | PG Bishop Kenny | 2023 State FL | Bishop Kenny | ’23
Sophia was a key addition this season and has taken on much of the ball-handling duties as the point guard. It was much needed as fellow transfer and ball-handler Riley Talbert Riley Talbert 5'9" | SG Bishop Kenny HS | 2024 State FL wasn’t available for the game. She had 14 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists against FSU High School including 4-7 from the three-point line. Sophia is vital for her team and is a good compliment to Maddie on the court . She also plays good defense and sets up her teammates to score.
Kaylah Turner Kaylah Turner 5'5" | PG Oakleaf | 2023 State FL | Oakleaf | ’23
Kaylah is one of the fastest players on the court with or without the ball in Northeast Florida. She is an absolute terror on the defensive end of the floor which usually turns into easy baskets for her team. This was very evident this week as she had a rare double-double with points and steals. She had 27 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists and 14 steals in the win against First Coast. Kaylah is not just a defensive player though. She has developed into a complete player who can score at every level and has a nice midrange jump shot.
