Northeast Florida Week 8 Top Performers

Let’s take a look at some of the top performers from week 8 in Northeast Florida. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="91582" first="Nia" last="Brown"]</strong> | Orange Park | ’22 Nia has continued to elevate her game in her senior season.  She is no longer just a good defender and rebounder.  Everything for her looks smooth and effortless on the court.  The game has really slowed down for her and she is always in control.  Nia can play all five positions on the floor which makes her a matchup nightmare for opponents.  She filled up the stat sheet in week 8 of the season.  She helped lead her team to a 2-1 record with 12 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals and 3 blocks against Episcopal, 22 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists, 4 steals and 1 block against St. Augustine, and 16 points, 17 rebounds, 6 assists, 5 steals, and 7 blocks against Raines. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="248620" first="Avery" last="Cannon"]</strong> | Fleming Island | ’22 Avery is a shooting guard whose output has increased every season at Fleming Island.  She has come into the second half of the season on fire from outside.  Her numbers are up across the board and she is doing it more efficiently.  Avery had 25 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, 4 steals, and 2 blocks against University Christian, 11 points, 1 rebound, 8 assists, and 2 steals against Ed White and 31 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal against Heritage, all wins in week 8 of the season. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="349378" first="Terrielle" last="Clark"]</strong> | San Jose Prep | ’24 Terrielle is a combo guard who is versatile and athletic.  She is one of the best rebounding guards in Northeast Florida.  She can also defend multiple positions and turns that defense into easy offense in transition.  Terrielle is starting on a team where the other four starters are all seniors but it is hard to tell because of the impact she has on her team.  She led her team to a win in their only game in week 8 against Camden with 15 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists, and 5 steals. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="349278" first="Aniyah" last="Fisher"]</strong> | St. Augustine | ’24 Aniyah is a versatile player that can do a little bit of everything on the court for her team.  It was on full display a win in their only game in week 8 against a really good Orange Park team.  She was thrust into point guard duties as Orange Park face-guarded teammate [player_tooltip player_id="219949" first="Emily" last="McIntosh"] for most of the game.  Aniyah played a complete floor game and ended up with 16 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals, and 1 block. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="349375" first="Morgan" last="Gavazzi"]</strong> | Ponte Vedra | ’24 Morgan is a true floor general at the point guard position.  She always has her head up and sees the floor well.  She knows when to shoot and when to pass.  Morgan is a good three-point shooter but can get into the paint to score as well.  She is also a scrappy defender and gets her hands in the passing lane often.  She led her team to a win in their only game in week with 18 points, 2 rebounds, and 5 assists against Terry Parker. <strong>A’ja Pollard</strong> | Bartram Trail | ’23 A’ja has continued to expand her game this season.  She has increased her numbers in almost every area on the stat sheet.  She can play multiple positions on offense and defense.  She plays at her own pace and gets to her spots with ease to be able to score.  A’ja operates mainly in the paint and midrange but can extend her range out to the three-point line if open.  She had 22 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, and 4 steals against Bolles in week 8.
