The Little Elm Lobos survived a second half comeback attempt vs. the Prosper Eagles on Tuesday, winning 65-57, and the Prestonwood Christian Academy Lions earned a dominant 62-27 home win over the Trinity Christian Academy Trojans on Friday. There were several individuals who caught my attention during these matchups. With that in mind, here are 10 standout guard prospects from this past week’s action:
Destinee Baker | 2022 | 5’7” Point Guard | Prestonwood Christian Academy – Baker was sensational as a playmaker on Friday, dishing out a school record 17-assists in addition to her six points and seven rebounds. She was in full control of this game from start to finish. The McDonald’s All-American nominee masterfully manipulated the defense, threaded the needle for some dimes, was extremely accurate with her deliveries, and continued to find the hot hand with fabulous results. Furthermore, she played with outstanding pace, while also displaying good body control at the rim when attacking off the bounce.
Mackenzie Nolan | 2023 | 5’8” Shooting Guard | Prestonwood Christian Academy – Nolan also made PCA history on Friday, knocking down a school record 11 three-pointers vs. TCA and ultimately finished the game with 35 points. She was efficient from beyond the arc too, shooting 50% from three-point land on the night. The junior two-guard displayed deep range and was unafraid to let it fly from the outside, continuously burning the defense for not defending her tighter on the perimeter. It was far and away the best individual shooting performance I’ve seen this season. Nolan is committed to Grand Canyon University for softball, but GCU’s hoops staff might want to consider letting her suit up for them as well.
Amarachi Kimpson Amarachi Kimpson 5'7" | PG Little Elm | 2023 State TX | 2023 | 5’8” Point Guard | Little Elm HS – Kimpson is such an efficient scorer. She is a capable three-point shooter but doesn’t fall in love with the long ball. The No. 4 ranked prospect in our 2023 rankings understands the ebb and flow of games and knows when to call her own number, while also being productive as a scorer and facilitator within the flow of the offense. When attacking the basket off the dribble, Kimpson has a wide variety of ways to finish and does so through contact consistently. Furthermore, her instincts are great at both ends of the floor. She ended the night with 20 points and four rebounds, which is just another night at the office for the star junior.
Madison Martin Madison Martin 5'7" | PG State TX | 2024 | 5’5” Point Guard | Little Elm HS – Martin is slippery when handling the ball and possesses great overall speed. She navigates the floor well and has the ability to get a step on defenders and explode to the basket, where the sophomore floor general is a solid finisher. I was also impressed with her passing vs. Prosper. She was deadly accurate with her no-look deliveries and constantly found her teammates for high-percentage looks from the field. She was generous as a distributor Tuesday evening. Beyond that, Martin also exhibited that she could hit the mid-range J from the elbow, making her all the more difficult to defend. She ended up with 11 points, five rebounds, and three assists.
Shiloh Kimpson Shiloh Kimpson 5'7" | SG Little Elm | 2025 State TX | 2025 | 5’7” Shooting Guard | Little Elm HS – Kimpson displayed three-level scoring ability on Tuesday. That said, she was at her best when hunting her shot from mid-range. She utilized her jumper as a spot up shooter as well as off the dribble and was a timely shot-maker for her team down the stretch after they saw their double-digit lead evaporate. It’s great to see a freshman fearlessly take meaningful shots and bury them to recapture momentum. The 2025 prospect was terrific on defense too. Kimpson had a nose for the basketball and works hard at that end of the court. She added four steals and two blocks to her 15-point outing, proving herself to be one of the best two-way players in her class.
Peyton Mosley | 2022 | 5’9” Point Guard | Prosper HS – Mosley always ends up with an impressive stat line, and that was no different on Tuesday when she finished with 13 points, nine rebounds, five assists, and two steals. That said, it is the way she compiles those numbers that impresses me. She has a great balance of playmaking and scoring skill, but it’s how she adjusts her approach throughout games to get the most out of herself and her teammates. Her feel for the game is up there with some of the best in the state. It’s also worth pointing out that she followed up her performance against Little Elm with a 19-point, six rebound, six assist outing vs. Denton Guyer on Friday.
Bowden Janecek | 2022 | 5’9” Shooting Guard | Prosper HS – Janecek caught my eye last season due to her high motor and defensive intensity. She has now become a more efficient and effective offensive player without sacrificing any of the energy she brings to the defensive end. The senior guard is much improved as a spot-up three-point shooter, knocking down a pair of triples vs. Little Elm, and both shots ignited Prosper’s spirited comeback attempt that ultimately feel short. Her willingness and confidence as a shooter have improved too, as well as her overall passing and ball handling. Janecek has developed into a really solid three-and-D player.
Zhi McWilliams | 2025 | 5’4” Point Guard | Prosper HS – McWilliams is a 2025 prospect that needs to be on your radar. She possesses explosive quickness as a ball handler and can absolutely fly in the open court. She made some brilliant passes, showing her playmaking ability when threading the needle to get the ball into her bigs down low. The freshman floor general showed that she is a good three-point shooter as well, exhibiting good shot selection in the process. McWilliams ended the contest with 12 points and five assists.
AB Burnett | 2022 | 5’4” Combo Guard | Trinity Christian Academy – Burnett played hard despite her team trailing big for pretty much the entirety of the game. That’s okay, because even on nights like those, it’s still an opportunity to put something positive on tape. The senior guard managed to drain a couple of triples. She looked comfortable shooting over defenders who were closing out. Burnett also showcased some good passing, as well as the ability to operate at either guard spot.
Grace Leverton Grace Leverton 5'4" | PG Trinity Christian Academy | 2024 State TX | 2024 | 5’4” Point Guard | Trinity Christian Academy – Leverton is a high-IQ player. She is an intelligent passer and a good decision maker as a lead guard. The TCA sophomore has a good overall feel for the game and is willing to make the extra pass on the perimeter, constantly getting good looks for her teammates. As a scorer, Leverton is a focused three-point shooter. She converted the elusive four-point play at the foul line after burying a three-pointer through contact. In addition, she contributed on the defensive glass. She accounted for seven points, five rebounds, and four assists vs. Prestonwood.
