We only have a month left in the 2022 regular season and most teams have played around 20 games at this point. With that big of a sample size, we can take a look at the results and start making some predictions for the 2022 Miss Basketball award. Here’s a breakdown of front runners and predictions of who could make the ceremony in March.
<span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>The Favorite:</strong></span>
[player_tooltip player_id="31885" first="Amiya" last="Jenkins"], Anderson County - She’s been the top ranked player in our 2022 rankings since they started and has established herself as the best player in the class over the last several seasons. Jenkins is likely to be the winner of the award by a large margin. Having said that, you never know.
<span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Second Favorite:</strong></span>
[player_tooltip player_id="106153" first="Gracie" last="Merkle"], Bullitt East - Merkle has really come along in the last two years and worked her way into one of the most impactful players in the state. She’s a tough cover on offense thanks to her size and finishing ability and she is capable of altering a lot of shots on the defensive end. She’s led Bullitt East to a great season and in the mix for a state title.
<span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Third Favorite:</strong></span>
[player_tooltip player_id="106138" first="Cassidy" last="Rowe"], Shelby Valley - Rowe has been playing varsity basketball for what seems like a decade and has been committed to UK that long too. Cassidy fought her way through two tough knee injuries and has gotten back to her old self in the last year or so. She’s had a long and decorated career and could be considered a dark horse to win the award if Jenkins doesn’t run away with it.
