The 2023 rankings were updated this week. Here are some of the stock rising point guards from the latest update.

[player_tooltip player_id="116906" first="Samyha" last="Suffren"] | Cannon

Suffren (pictured above) has committed to Virginia Tech, and she certainly plays with a college level IQ when she is on the court. She is smooth with her ball handling knowing how to get some space between her and her defenders, and she pulls up for jump shots all over the court almost guaranteeing that it will fall through the hoop. She gets inside to grab rebounds, and she knows how to read her opponents to jump into passing lanes grabbing steals.

[player_tooltip player_id="201849" first="Chandler" last="Brooks"] | Providence Day

Brooks continues to do it all for her team. She can grab a rebound and immediately launch the pass up the court to a cutting teammate to score in transition. She controls the tempo of the game pushing the ball up the court with ease or making sure her teammates are ready to run a play effectively. She can easily shoot over her opponents scoring herself, and on defense, her size makes it easy for her to guard any position on the court.

[player_tooltip player_id="275244" first="Kylie" last="Chavis"] | Purnell Swett

Chavis had a big travel basketball season last summer showing off her ability to do everything for her team from handling the ball at the top of the key to sliding around the perimeter knocking down big shots. She has surged this high school season averaging over 20 points a game. She definitely doesn’t shy away from contact on either end of the basketball court getting to the basket no matter what it takes, and she stays in the face of her opponents when defending the hoop. Her hesitation move is hard to defend, and she uses it to get around opponents for her own points or to make the nice dish underneath the basket.

[player_tooltip player_id="213234" first="Jyana" last="Salton"] | Porter Ridge

Salton plays both ends of the court effectively turning steals into offensive possessions and fast breaks for herself. Her facial expressions and her body movements really sell her fakes throwing off defenders opening up lanes for her to drive to the basket or pull up for her jump shot. She uses every bit of her height to make herself a big target for the pass from a teammate or to jump into passing lanes on defense.

[player_tooltip player_id="254583" first="Nevaeh" last="Farmer"] | North Mecklenburg

Farmer definitely uses her speed to her advantage as she can move quickly with the ball up and down the court, or she can flash in front of a pass on defense gaining the possession. Her cuts are effective without the ball finding the openings to show off her shot whether she is shooting from deep or midrange. As a floor general, she seems to dictate where she wants the defense to shift in order to find her open teammates for their own points.
