As our playoff rankings are being published, there are some names on this list that have been standouts on their high school teams this year. 2022 [player_tooltip player_id="319560" first="Emma" last="Smith"] | 5-6 PG | Vestavia in her senior year is again the team’s leading scorer. Emma was been on varsity since 8th grade and is a great scorer. She is a big-time star, that loves playing against tough competition. Emma can shoot the three-ball anywhere between the center court line and the 3-point line, she leads the press on the defensive end, and is usually collecting steals which lead to just another way for Emma to score. Her team is currently ranked number 2 in 7A as Alabama high school teams begin playoff the week of February 7th.
Then there is new name to the group; [player_tooltip player_id="334832" first="Carleigh" last="Andrews"] | 5-6 PG | Auburn; she transferred to Alabama from Mississippi this past summer. She is another DNA players; mom and dad were both collegiate athletes. Carleigh has a high basketball IQ, which makes her a problem on the court in the guard position. Her ball handling skillset is very good, she will get to the basket and finish with contact or if she chooses she can and will shot that trey ball. Carleigh has signed with Charleston Southern University and Coach Garcia has got herself a proven winner.
Let’s head to Greensboro High, the home of Shelton State Community College signee [player_tooltip player_id="320516" first="Adriana" last="Jones"] | 5-5 PG | Greensboro, and this is a different kind of guard. Adriana can score in many ways; driving to the basket, off the dribble, pull up and shooting the "3 ball". She's quick as a cat, and a constant headache for most defenses; an excellent ballhandler and very pesky on defense.
Let’s head to the southern region of the state; [player_tooltip player_id="319559" first="T’Keyah" last="Weatherly"] | 5-9 CG | Theodore, another current signee with Shelton State Community College. T’Keyah is one of those guards that plays on both ends of the court, she can handle the ball, has great court awareness and knows when to score or facilitate it in order to get the score. On the defensive end her knack for getting those defensive rebounds at 5-9 is awesome. Coach Thompson has got her another gem in this 2022 Class of Alabama.
