Granville vs Kettering Alter, Tuesday 6:00
The Young Guns- After a couple of down years, Alter has made it back to the regionals and they are doing it with a mix of steady seniors and fast-rising underclassmen. Riley Smith Riley Smith 6'2" | SF Kettering Alter | 2024 State OH (feature photo above) is a 6-3 sophomore who has a great perimeter game and is a mismatch issue with her size on the perimeter. Riley is ranked #9 in the latest PGH update (15 ppg) with the next one coming in a couple of weeks. Madison Moody Madison Moody 6'1" | C Kettering Alter | 2025 State OH is only a 2025 (11.8 ppg) but she is very skilled, and at 6-1 she does a very good job in the paint. She possessed good footwork and can play physical. She was ranked #7 in the early 2025 OGH rankings in December. Also Elena Thompson Elena Thompson 5'11" | SG Kettering Alter | 2024 OH is emerging as a key player and prospect as the 6-foot 2024 continues to grow her game.
Next level players- The young Alter players I mentioned are all expected to get some looks at the next level, while Granville has a pair of players ready to take their game to college Cate Schieber Cate Schieber 5'9" | CG Granville | 2022 State OH (PGH #20) is a 5-9 2022 who will play at Belmont Abbey and not only has great range out beyond the arc, she also has a great presence defensively. Also 5-11 2023 Ella Wigal Ella Wigal 5'11" | SG IMG Academy | 2023 FL (#17 2023) (pictured left) will attend Liberty, and both are the key components in their run to regionals.
Steady vets- Alter has a pair of seniors who have been a big part in the quick turnaround of the Knights success. 2022 standouts Karlie Romer Karlie Romer 5'10" | SF Kettering Alter | 2022 OH (5-10) and Caraline Kernan Caraline Kernan 5'8" | SG Kettering Alter | 2022 OH (5-8) are both experienced players with a good skillset. They can create on both sides of the ball and one of the biggest things is their ability to control the game. You can’t beat experience and these two have it.
Eaton vs Hamilton Badin, Tuesday 8:00
Cinderella story- At one point of the season, Eaton was 6-11 and then 9-13 when the postseason begun. Since then, every game they won in the postseason was against a team seeded higher than them. They have but it all together and made the trip to the D2 elite eight in Ohio. Everything is going their way right now, hitting the big shots and making key stops.
Balalnced attack- Eaton has no megastars, no McDonald’s All-Americans, but they have a group of ladies peaking at the right time. Olivia Baumann is their top player, as the 6-foot 2024 is nearly averaging a double-double. She is a very solid rebounder and uses her size well to control the boards. Lily Shepherd is a 5-9 2024 and is known for her perimeter. game, as she moves well and can create shots. The glue that makes them go is 2022 Allison Mowen, an uncommitted point guard with excellent court sense, handles and the ability to find the best shot.
Badin ready for more- Jada Pohlen is a 5-10 2022 who was Player of the Year in the GCL Coed with a good stat line of 14 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists and steals per game. She is a complete player and will be a tough player to contain within their offense. Another key contributor is 5-7 2022 Mahya Lindesmith Mahya Lindesmith 5'8" | CG Hamilton Badin | 2022 OH (pictured left) who I loved her game last year and she has continued to be a big factor in their success. She is a big perimeter threat, can put the ball on the floor and move well.
