It’s here! Tournament time is now upon us. This is one of the most exciting times of the year. Where it is literally win or go home. D2 schools have already kicked off their district play with the public school division tipping it off this week. It’s time to lace ’em up and get ready to leave it all out there on the hardwood. As teams set their eyes on winning that gold ball, here at PGH Tennessee, we are excited not only just to cover the tournaments, but also celebrate the young ladies who have battled it out all year. Final votes are being cast for all district teams, all tournament teams, and the distinguished Miss Tennessee award. This all mighty award is given to that X factor player each year who has excelled in the game of basketball. It’s an award that carries a lot of weight in this state. It is an honor to win Miss Tennessee, one that can and will be cherished forever. Here are the nominees for Miss Tennessee for the 2021-2022 high school basketball season. Class 4A Imari Berry Imari Berry 5'10" | SG Clarksville | 2024 State TN (5’10/CG/ So./ Clarksville)- Can play inside and out. Can score the rock on multiple levels. Creates mismatches on both ends of the floor. Has huge upside. Ta’mia Scott (6’0/W Sr./ Clarksville Northwest)- Phenomenal hooper that’s a MTSU commit. Has a lot of weapons in her game. Can bang in the post, shoot it from 3, start transition breaks, block shots, grab boards, an all around athlete. Jennifer Sullivan (5’7/SG/ Sr./ Bearden)- Tennessee Tech commit who is a knockdown scoring threat. Can create her own shot by putting the ball on the floor or knocking down open looks. Fierce competitor who gets after it nightly. Class 3A Sarah Burton Sarah Burton 5'7" | CG Clinton | 2023 State TN (5’9/ SG/ Sr./ Clinton)- Bucket getter. Can score the rock in volumes. UVA Wise commit who is a gym rat. McKenzie Cochran McKenzie Cochran 5'8" | PG Page | 2022 State TN (5’8/ PG/ Sr./ Page)- Special player who is phenomenal with the ball in her hands. Floor general who can score the ball. Two-way player who creates opportunities for herself and her club on both ends of the floor. Brooklyn Crouch Brooklyn Crouch 5'8" | CG Upperman | 2022 State TN (5’8/PG/ Sr./ Upperman)- Hustler. Floor general. Multi-level scorer who is a grinder. Can run the offense to perfection as well as create for herself. A UT- Chattanooga commit. Class 2A Jada Harrison Jada Harrison 5'8" | PG Martin Westview | 2023 State TN (5’7/ CG/ Jr./ Westview)- Motivated. Hungry. Big-time player who can control the flow of the game. Scoring threat who excels on both ends of the floor. Madison Hart Madison Hart 5'9" | PF Gibson Co. | 2023 State TN (5’10/W/ Sr./ Gibson Co.)- Hard nosed player who gets after it. Contributes in the scoring column and controls the boards. Karly Weathers Karly Weathers 5'11" | CG Loretto | 2022 State TN (5’10/CG/ Sr./ Loretto)- Scoring machine who has a nice touch from all 3 levels. Bama commit who contributes in multiple facets of the game. Class 1A Alayna Anderson Alayna Anderson 5'5" | CG Gleason | 2022 State TN (5’5/ CG / Sr./ Gleason)- Floor general who can score the ball and dish it with the best of them. Feisty player who has a knack for being around the ball. Savannah Davis Savannah Davis 5'9" | SG McKenzie | 2024 State TN (5’9/ SG/ So./ McKenzie)- Scoring threat with a sweet touch. Can get a bucket on multiple levels. Long and rangy, creates turnovers on the defensive end. Lyndie Ramsey (6’0/ PG/ Jr./ Unaka)- Excels both on the hardwood and in the classroom. Scoring guard who has a nice mid-range game to go along with her long range prowess. Division II-AA Kennedy Cambridge Kennedy Cambridge 5'8" | CG Ensworth | 2022 State TN (5’8/ CG/ Sr./ Ensworth)- Dynamic guard who can score the rock. Feisty on both ends of the floor. Can create her own shot, slash through the lane to finish at the rim, and has a nice mid-range game. Jaloni Cambridge Jaloni Cambridge 5'8" | PG Ensworth | 2024 State FL (5’6/ PG/ So./ Ensworth)- Swiss army knife USA basketball member. Can score the rock and dish the ball in abundance. A defensive threat who looks to lockdown her opponent. Sydney Mains Sydney Mains 5'11" | SF Knoxville Catholic | 2024 State TN (5’11/CG/ So./ Knoxville Catholic)- Phenomenal combo guard who is such a superb player. Has great court awareness, scores on all 3 levels, and creates mismatches on both ends of the floor. Division II- A Madi Hawk Madi Hawk 5'10" | SG Jefferson Co. | 2024 State TN (5’10/ G/ So./ Lakeway Christian Academy)- Talented guard who can find the bottom of the net from anywhere on the floor. Sharpshooter who is a catalyst for her team on a nightly basis. Olivia Lee Olivia Lee 5'11" | SG Trinity Christian Academy | 2023 State TN (5’10/ G/ Jr./ Trinity Christian Academy)- Walking double-double, knows how to score the rock and contribute on the boards. Multi-sport athlete who has great instincts and a high basketball I.Q. Aalyah Del Rosario Aalyah Del Rosario 6'5" | C Webb- Bell Buckle | 2023 State #5 Nation TN (6’6/ C/ Jr,/ Webb- Bell Buckle)- Big anchor in the middle who is a beast in the paint. Scrappy on the boards on both ends of the floor. Great communicator who is a force in the middle.
