With Kindred capturing an undefeated season and claiming the crown lets take a look back at the 10 athletes that were selected to the 2022 all-state tournament team.
[player_tooltip player_id="14168" first="Abby" last="Duchscherer"] - Kindred - (6’1/SG/2022) - Abby was the tournament MVP and senior athlete of the year. She guided Kindred to an undefeated season and went out with a bang as state champions. What more could you ask for in your senior year? A certafied athlete that will play for the Crimson Tides softball team. Congrats to Abby and the Vikings on a magical year.
[player_tooltip player_id="100425" first="Walker" last="Demers"] - Grafton - (6’3/PF/2023) - The tallest and one of the most dangerous prospects at state Demers showed why there needs to be an all defensive team. She alters any shots that go near the rim and into her paint. She’s strong, long, and mobile for a 6’3 post. If Demers finds a really consistent outside jumper be cautious next year as we’ll have a real monster on our hands.
[player_tooltip player_id="100449" first="Hailey" last="Quam"] - Shiloh Christian - (5’11/PF/2023) - Quam was injured for a couple games this year, but that didn’t stop her from showcasing her talents. Currently 11th in the state for the class of 23’ and 1st in the class for Small Forwards Quam is true athlete. Last season she played for Wilton Wing with little help and this year paired with [player_tooltip player_id="99803" first="Grace" last="Kelly"] and the duo had a fantastic season together often scoring half the Skyhawks points. Quam will look to refabricate the success with another state tournament run next year.
[player_tooltip player_id="206273" first="Morgan" last="Freije"] - Langdon Area - (5’10/SF/2022 - A certified slasher that can move well with or without the ball. I think Freije excels in the fast break portion of the Cardinals play. She’s quick, has handles and attacks the rim with reckless abandonment, but finishes like a seasoned veteran.
[player_tooltip player_id="14180" first="Terryn" last="Johnson"] - Kindred - (6’1/C/2022) - Terryn was always a sneaky scorer this year. It’s as if teams new about her, but always over scouted her teammate Abby Duchsherer. Not that scouring Johsnon would’ve done much good as she’s ranked #2 in the state due to her physicality and long limbs. She’s a defensive terror and makes opposing players switch up how they shoot and attack the basket. What a year Terryn had and to finish with a state championship is icing on the cake.
[player_tooltip player_id="99803" first="Grace" last="Kelly"] - Shiloh Christian - (6’1/SF/2022) - Kelly was really impressive this year. She did as she always did bullying smaller, uncoordinated post players and averaging a double-double for a good portion of the year. She even had 2 in the state tournament games. A versatile prospect that can play inside and out and will be a great addition to a team at the next level.
[player_tooltip player_id="99825" first="Jaycee" last="Richter"] - Linton-HMB - (5’6/SG/2022 - JayCee was the go-to player for the Lions all year and game after game she proved why she was just that. She led the Lions in scoring this year at 17 per game and guided them to a state tournament spot. She can shoot or drive and has a tight set of handles and physicality that sets her apart from other guards.
[player_tooltip player_id="100429" first="Ainsley" last="Mclain"] - Grafton - (5’9/CG/2023) - A left-handed shooter that is deadly from 3. McLain really exploded this year showing she has what it takes to play at the next level. She’s quick, versatile and possibly the best shooter for Grafton and in that region.
[player_tooltip player_id="257890" first="Jaya" last="Henderson"] - Langdon Area - (5’8/PG/2024) - Jaya can be defined as an athlete to say the least. She uses her long arms and legs to cut defenders off and reads the passing lanes well. She can flat our score the ball dropping 24 in the state tournament against Mohall. Jaya is a prospect that is going to get a lot of attention come next year as her stock rises.
[player_tooltip player_id="100436" first="Kacie" last="Burner"] - Kindred - (5’8/CG/2023) - Kacie is a combo guard that doesn’t force the issue. She excels in the pick n roll being able to get to get a burst of speed attacking down hill. Upon the attack she can take it all the way and finish, but loves to add a step back for separation hitting a sweet looking mid-range jumper.
