The District championships are here and there are some tremendous games on tap. Let’s look at 5 must see Division 2 district championship games.
<h3>Portland vs. Lansing Catholic</h3>

KEY PLAYERS

The senior star appears ready to lead Portland on a run to another state title. Standing in their way is a very good Lansing Catholic squad. Bower is a consistent high level scorer and has loads of big game experience that will be so important in this contest.

Richards is a terrific young player and a tough matchup for any team. She had a huge second half in a win over Portland almost a month ago. Richards has the ability to do it again.
<h3>Chelsea vs. Tecumseh</h3>

Wells is smooth and athletic, always keeping control of every movement. While she can score at almost any time, Wells is a team player that makes those around her even better.
<strong>Allie Zajac (2025, F, Tecumseh)</strong>
Zajac is one of the most exciting freshman basketball players in the state. She can score from all 3 levels as well as control the defensive glass. Zajac will try to help defeat a Chelsea team that handed Tecumseh their only 2 losses of the season.
<h3>Westfield Prep vs. Detroit Cody</h3>

Westfield Prep: 19-1
Detroit Cody: 6-7
KEY PLAYERS

Reid is a jittery point guard that seems to get in the lane off the bounce at will. She’s a creative passer that will be nearly impossible to stop. If Reid controls the pace, Westfield Prep wins the title.

While her Cody team is a definite underdog, Tanksley gives them a big reason to stay confident. She’s a tough athlete off the wing and has had some huge scoring game this season, including a 50 point outburst against Detroit Southeastern.
<h3>Saginaw Swan Valley vs. Freeland</h3>

Saginaw Swan Valley: 17-4
Freeland: 17-5
KEY PLAYERS
<strong>Rachel Resio (2023, PG, Swan Valley)</strong>
Resio could be one of the most improved players in the state. She’s confident right now and is shooting at passing at a high level. Can she help avenge last weeks loss to Freeland?
<strong>Mackenzie Keefer (2022, SF, 2022)</strong>
The savvy veteran will play a huge role in determining the outcome of this game. She was the leading scorer in a Freeland win over Swan Valley about a week ago.
<h3>Frankenmuth vs. Saginaw</h3>
THE DETAILS
District 39 at Clio
3/4 at 7PM
THE TEAMS
Frankenmuth: 19-2
Saginaw: 12-8
KEY PLAYERS

The star guard will be at Davenport University next season. She has an excellent skill set on the court, but it may be her experience and leadership that’s most valuable.

The quick guard with a fast first step can score, dish, and defend. If Smith has a huge game, Saginaw can stay in it and try to pull off the upset.
