With so much talent in the 2025 class it can be hard to know who will have a breakthrough to get to that next level of being at the top. The nice thing about AAU is that (for the most part) they are on the same playing field. Some of these players cracked the varsity line up and rotation while others had to wait their turn looking to crack it next year. These freshmen have a great deal of talent so look for them to make leaps and bounds on their game this season.
[player_tooltip player_id="296514" first="Alaya" last="Carter"] - point guard, The City
The point guard, suffered with an injury late in the 2021 AAU season which slowed down her efforts in trying to crack the varsity starting lineup. She has raw talent and was born athletic. The City plays more of her style of play and the offense runs through her. They play an aggressive, fast, up and down game. Look for Carter to be the leader of the team and take over in big games with her excellent ball handling skills and fancy moves to the hoop. Oh, and don’t forget to protect the ball because she good at pick pocketing.
[player_tooltip player_id="215457" first="London" last="Harris"] - combo guard, The City
Harris made the switch over to Hopkins so that she could work with the best coach and play with the top players in the nation. Although she wasn’t a part of the varsity rotation, she played a tough JV season and would get an early bid in to some of the varsity games. The 5’8 guard looks like she’s been in the weight room and has filled out nicely. She has a quick first step and can beat you off the bounce. Along with teammate Carter, Harris will bear a lot of the team load, and she will have to play big on both ends of the floor.
[player_tooltip player_id="252480" first="Rae" last="Ehrman"] - small forward, Minnesota Fury 2025 UAA
Ehrman didn’t crack the Varsity rotation this year with so much talent on the Eden Prairie team. During JV Ehrman played a big role and became the leader of the squad. The combo guard does her work in silence. You can count on her to be great on defense and put points on the board on offense. She’s the type of player you watch play and then go look at the stats and she basically has a triple double. She’s not going to miss layups and if you leave her open at the three, she’s going to knock it down. The freshman will be joining a new team this year where she will look to play a bigger role.
[player_tooltip player_id="296530" first="Gracie" last="Winge"] - combo guard North Tartan 2025 Nike
The combo guard is back in full force after being out with an injury midseason that kept her from being in the varsity rotation, but she was able to learn from some of the best in the state and be a part of a state tournament run with Lakeville North. Winge caught our eye last summer while playing on the Minnesota Heat and giving some of the top teams in the state a run for their money. The 5’10 guard is long, and built like a forward, so she can hold her own when going to the hoop or grabbing a rebound. Winge will join a new team this spring and play alongside some of the top kids in the 2025 class as well as against some of the best freshman in the country with North Tartan playing the EYBL schedule this year. Look for Winge to come up big with her size, strength and motor.
[player_tooltip player_id="205299" first="Ella" last="Kuhlman"] - point guard, Metro Stars 2025
Kuhlman caught my eye at the Prep Girls Hoops Top 250 Expo in October standing out among the group. She was the starting point guard for North Branch and played a huge role for the team. The point guard was the second-leading scorer with 14 points a game after senior teammate [player_tooltip player_id="109144" first="Paige" last="Peaslee"] and the second-leading rebounder showing she can play at both ends of the floor. Kuhlman has this great energy about her and can shoot the three at a high clip. This year she will be joining a new team with the Metro Stars and will play alongside other top 50 freshman prospects.
