SMH. Tough. Super Tough. I’ve been saying from top to bottom, the 2023 class in the state of Tennessee is really talented. This is a special group with some standout female hoopers. Girls are like swiss army knives, built with different skill sets that can help take over a game. My point, this is a great class filled with tremendous young ladies who love the game of basketball and play the game with a certain type of passion. This high school season and through the summer dog days, we will have tons of girls across the state who will be seen by college coaches. This is a testament to their hard work, their high school coaches, trainers, and AAU programs. We will have girls who will commit to some big-time schools across the country. To be honest with you, no matter the level, playing ball in college is a big deal. To get your education paid for, play the game you love, and travel, can’t ask for much more. PGH Tennessee would like to take the time to recognize some of the top kids in the 2023 class. These young ladies have verbally committed or will definitely be picking up major offers along the way this upcoming summer as they hit the road over the next couple of months for travel ball. This will be a rolling list, but as of today, here is just a snippet of some of the talented girls we have in the Tri-Star state. So if you are a fan, please go grab your popcorn early and take in the opportunity to see some great young ladies hoop who represent our state. [player_tooltip player_id="195902" first="Mallory" last="Collier"] ( 6’5/C/Jr./ Bartlett)- The NC State commit, holds the top spot in the 2023 rankings. Anchors the middle on both ends on the floor, bringing a presence of domination. Offensively, can be used in the pick n roll game, can knock down elbow jumpers and short corner shots, and unleash her great footwork down on the blocks. Defensively, she is a juggernaut, controlling the boards and swatting shots. Can get up and down the floor to finish in transition break. The Wolfpack got a steal on this sensational talent. [player_tooltip player_id="134646" first="Angelica" last="Velez"] (5’6/PG/Jr./Webb- Bell Buckle)- Rosie the riveter, this talented hooper is a grinder. She is a heady floor general who likes to push the ball. Has great court awareness and can deliver on the rope passes. Creates on the offensive end by penetrating gaps and hitting the mid-range J. Tough defender who will get in the opponent’s grill. [player_tooltip player_id="245287" first="Jada" last="Harrison"] (5’8/PG/Jr./Westview)- Smooth with the ball in her hands. Multi-level scoring threat who can change speeds at a drop of a dime. Another Tennessee hooper who plays the game like it’s her last. Great court awareness, plays tough on both ends of the floor. Can take over the game from tip to finish. [player_tooltip player_id="245292" first="Jailyn" last="Banks"] (5’7/CG/Jr./ MTCS)- Her stock has risen and will continue to grow. Go-getter ballplayer who has a little sauce to her game. Can score it from all 3 levels, finish in traffic, and doesn’t get phased against pressure. Plays the game cool, calm, and collective. Defensively, she anticipates well, knows when to pick her spots to create transition breaks. MVP caliber player who will go on to play ball at the next level. [player_tooltip player_id="245293" first="Avery" last="Treadwell"] (6’2/C/Jr./ Bearden)- Sweet hooper who can play inside and out. Has had a stellar high school career thus far, where she has grown tremendously as she has gotten older. Avery is one complete player. Knows how to use her size to her advantage as she finds the bottom of the net consistently. A walking double-double who will be a huge get for a collegiate program who is looking to build a solid foundation for their program. [player_tooltip player_id="245289" first="Olivia" last="Lee"] (5’11/SG/Jr./Jackson Trinity)- Tough kid who is a grinder. Does the dirty work quietly, contributing to her team;s success. Her range can come from outside the arc, but she can bang within the painted area. Stays on the boards, unselfish, and will do whatever it takes to help lead her team to victory. Aubrey Blakenship (6’1/SF/Jr./Green Hill)- Tenacious player who will not be denied. Can put the ball on the floor to get to the rim or pull up from the mid-range. Doesn’t matter if she is in the catch in shoot position or shooting it off the dribble, the ball is going in majority of the time. Aubrey is a special kid who is a game-changer. Whether it be creating on the offensive end or grinding it out on the defensive end, her being on the floor gives her ball club a huge upside. [player_tooltip player_id="245313" first="Jordan" last="Gillies"] (5’11/SG/Jr./Cookeville)- Sharpshooter. Pure and simple. Can create off the dribble or pull up from deep. Can score it on multiple levels, playing with such control. Doesn’t matter if she brings the ball up the court of fills the lanes, Jordan is a heady player who makes the right play. Sees the floor well, delivers timely passes, clutch in big-time moments, this Lady Cavalier is a tough kid you need to keep your eye on. [player_tooltip player_id="245299" first="Emily" last="Monson"] (6’0/SF/Jr./Blackman)- This Purdue commit is a gym rat for sure. Ha sa great first step to where she can get down hill to unleash a nice mid-range J. Soft touch, sweet stroke, Emily was a great get for the Lady Boilermakers program. Someone who will contribute on both ends of the ball, look for her to take an even bigger step as she plays throughout the summer and gains more confidence. Great kid who is a team-first player. [player_tooltip player_id="245283" first="Amari" last="Bonds"] (5’9/CG/Jr./Union City)- Tremendous player who can get to the rim. She is a multi-level scoring threat who can get it done. A downhill threat, she is going to put her opponents on skates as she blows past them. Heady floor general who can facilitate an offense. From creating her own shots to dishing to teammates, her presence on the floor opens up so many opportunities either for herself or others. Known for her offensive skills, her defensive abilities allows her to create extra possessions for her club on a regular basis. Hard working kid with a huge upside.
