State AA Tournament MVP - [player_tooltip player_id="14244" first="Hannah" last="Ronsiek"]
Hannah took home state tournament MVP honors and a state championship in her final season. She will be off to play D1 basketball at Colorado State. I’ve only been able to sort through games and catch the championship game, but Hannah was the second leading scoring in the tournament at 16.3 ppg., and she was scoring consistently from game to game. With outputs of 18, 16, and 15 points. She was 16-33 from the field and 4-12 from deep. What stood out was her ability to get to the line and finish from the line, for 13-17 and a crucial 9-11 in the championship game. Her free throws late in the game sealed the deal for O’Gorman.
[player_tooltip player_id="182129" first="Mahli" last="Abdouch"] had a great tournament and she played with supreme confidence in the final game. She started out slow shooting the three, but she didn’t let that stop her from being aggressive late in the game. Mahli was getting inside the lane and handling on-ball pressure well, with crossovers and back-dribble moves. She had an impressive crossover move to blow by her defender for a lay-up off the right side of the glass.
[player_tooltip player_id="261381" first="Kira" last="Mentele"] didn’t have a dominant game but she’s a 2023 prospect to watch for next season. She has every bit of a chance to become a top 10 prospect in the class, in my opinion. Has the length and frame for some great upside in her college years. I see her as a D2 prospect.
[player_tooltip player_id="261377" first="Hannah" last="Friedman"] was an X-factor performer in the game. She had a massive 12 points in the game and was efficient, going 5 of 10 from the field.
[player_tooltip player_id="166683" first="Bergen" last="Reilly"] is a nationally recognized volleyball player and you can see her athletic ability on the basketball court as well. She was making big-time rebounds, blocks, and coming up with the ball for huge possessions.
[player_tooltip player_id="99732" first="Jayda" last="McNabb"] was bringing the heat on the defensive side of the ball, in the early going. She was playing tight defense on Ronsiek, playing with quickness and strength. McNabb was the best prospect in terms of athletic ability. She was keeping Stevens in the game offensively in the 2nd half and was taking matters into her own hands, slicing through the defense for contested and tough finishes around the hoop. She’ll be playing her collegiate ball at Air Force.
[player_tooltip player_id="99730" first="Bailee" last="Sobczak"] was a beast in a losing effort. She played with a ton of grit and relentless tenacity. You could tell she wanted it bad. She finished with 13 points in the game, along with a strong 11 rebounds. She has been dealing with a knee ailment the past couple season, but she’s off to D2 ball at Nebraska-Kearney.
Another D2 commit for Rapid City Stevens is [player_tooltip player_id="99770" first="Jaden" last="Matkins"]. She’s going on to Augustana. She ended up on a D2 roster because of her athletic and strong build at a 6’0 forward spot. She seems like a developmental prospect with a great and powerful frame to work with.
[player_tooltip player_id="403106" first="Macey" last="Wathen"] was just added to the database, and she had a big role shooting the three in the tournament, making a total of 8 - with 5 in the first game.
[player_tooltip player_id="342173" first="Taaliyah" last="Porter"] is a Freshman guard that gets the starting nod for Stevens. She is calm and poised for a young prospect. She plays her game and doesn’t get forced to speed things up. She’s a solid all-around prospect, that projects to a big-bodied guard. She should take on a huge role starting next season and that’s where we’ll see in which direction she heads as a prospect.
