The Division 4 field was rich with top notch teams and high quality talent. In the semifinals Fowler topped Baraga 51-45 and Plymouth Christian defeated Adrian Lenawee Christian by a score of 50-39. In the championship game, Fowler topped Plymouth Christian in a tough 61-46 game. I’m going to give you a Most Outstanding Player and some Honorable Mentions for the Division 4 Final 4.
<h2>HONORABLE MENTIONS</h2>
<strong>Cara Anderson (2022, F, Adrian Lenawee Christian)</strong>
Anderson was terrific shooting the ball from behind the arc in the semifinals, going 4-6 from deep and keeping her team in the game. She ended the game with 12 points and 4 boards.
<strong>Grace Epkey (2023, PF, Fowler)</strong>
Epkey had a key role on the the Fowler team and she did an excellent job filling it. They needed her to crash the glass, play D, and finish high percentage looks. Well, she grabbed 11 rebounds in the semis and topped that with a 10 point and 11 rebound double-double in the title game. Epkey also shot 50% from the field in the finals.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="147782" first="Anna" last="Fernandez"] (2022, PG, Plymouth Christian)</strong>
Fernandez was terrific in both the semis and the finals. She averaged 18.5 points per game in final 4 action. Fernandez wasn’t just a top notch scorer, but a primary ball handler and a true leader for her team.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="190186" first="Morganne" last="Houk"] (2022, SG, Plymouth Christian)</strong>
Houk was a sparkplug for her team. She averaged 18 points per game in the final 2 games and was part of a furious attempt to stage a comeback in the finals.
<strong>Reide Osterman (2022, PG, Baraga)</strong>
Osterman was lights out in a tight semifinal loss. She paced her team with 17 points and came 1 rebound shy of a double-double, finishing with 9 total.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="280224" first="Emma" last="Riley"] (2023, PG, Fowler)</strong>
[player_tooltip player_id="280224" first="Emma" last="Riley"] was critical in Fowler’s run to the state title. She averaged 15.5 points per game and 5.5 rebounds per game in the Final 4. Riley was terrific with the ball in her hands. In about 58 minutes of total game action, she only turned the ball over 4 times.
<h2>MOST OUTSTANDING PLAYER</h2>

The fact that she was named the 2022 Division 4 MOP is definitely not a surprise. It wasn’t long ago that she was named Honorable Mention for the Prep Hoops Michigan Player of the Year for the class of 2022.

Riley led Fowler to the state title in 2021 and she did it again in 2022. In her final 2 games, she averaged 19.5 points, 11.5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3.5 steals. Riley’s ball handling and playmaking was terrific. As a primary ball handler with a reputation for being aggressive with the rock, her low turnover numbers were staggering. In approximately 62 minutes of action, she only turned the ball over 8 times. Riley was borderline unstoppable in Fowler’s championship defense and more than deserving of being named the Division 4 Final 4 MOP.
