Introducing PGH Florida’s Miss Basketball: Addison Potts
This is the first year of awarding this honor to a player in the Senior class, and we are pleased to announce Addison Potts Addison Potts 6'0" | CG South Fort Myers | 2022 State FL of South Fort Myers as your PGH Florida Miss Basketball. There were many worthy candidates, but ultimately the fans voted Addison as their Miss Basketball with 47.87% of the 1,406 votes.
Addison had a fantastic season in her first and only year at South Fort Myers. She averaged 21.4 ppg, 7.2 rpg, and 4.3 apg as a member of the Wolfpack. The Purdue commit made 53 three’s, shot ~50% from field, and scored 620 points during her Senior season which broke the single season scoring record. Addi was named the FACA 5A Player of the Year as well as being a McDonald’s All American nominee. AP led South Fort Myers to their first District Championship in 14 years AND their first regional playoff win in school history behind a record of 24-5. Talk about a historic season for her, her community, and her team!
Addi decided to return back home for her Senior season at South Fort Myers. Her coach, BJ Edwards, said their relationship started through training and grew from there. “To come back to her city and help change to the culture at the school says a lot about her”, said Coach Edwards. He also said she really separates herself from others with her work ethic. “She has been able to maintain this intense work ethic preseason, during season, and post-season. She’s an incredible kid and she deserves every accolade she’s receiving.” Outside of the stats and her ability to hoop, BJ said her teammates absolutely lover her, so he was blessed to be her coach this year.
Another level of praise from her coach was about her high IQ that he said was “second to none”. Coach said, “I would come to her to bounce ideas about offenses, defenses, and just team things like she was a coach. Having that kind of relationship with your leader helped us tremendously. She is a floor general, and I trusted her wholeheartedly on the court.” I know Addison spends a lot of time in the gym, and being a gym rat is something you can’t teach which should translate well at the next level.
Addi concluded her prep career with 2,620 points, 1,024 rebounds, and 501 assists. We wish her the best of luck in her collegiate career!
