Lower State 3A Final: Camden HS vs Bishop England

The Camden HS Lady Bulldogs still remembered February 25, 2021 of last season. The Lady Bulldogs were defeated by Bishop England in the playoffs 47-39 down in Daniel Island. This season the Lady Bulldogs had revenge on their minds. Camden HS advances to the Class 3A State Championship Game later this week in Aiken to play the Keenan HS Lady Raiders. The Lady Bulldogs won today 47-33 over the Battling Bishops. <em><strong>The 2,000 Point Club and 1,000 Rebound Club</strong></em> <a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2022/03/B6AE14F3-B211-4A04-9575-4B40E708130B-crop-1168x767-1646232703.jpeg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-395304" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2022/03/B6AE14F3-B211-4A04-9575-4B40E708130B-crop-1168x767-1646232703-300x197.jpeg" alt="" width="300" height="197" /></a> Ms. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="171798" first="Joyce" last="Edwards"]</strong> #1 player in the 2024 Palmetto State Class recently joined the club and she is just a sophomore. Edwards finished the game tonight with 14 points in the win over the Battling Bishops. Joyce was really disruptive inside the paint with her ability to alter and challenge shots all game long against the Battling Bishops. <em><strong>Let it Fly from Downtown </strong></em> <a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2022/03/2E31CED0-EEFC-4B87-B3F6-B6B150044A44-crop-1088x714-1646232920.jpeg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-395309" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2022/03/2E31CED0-EEFC-4B87-B3F6-B6B150044A44-crop-1088x714-1646232920-300x197.jpeg" alt="" width="300" height="197" /></a> <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="195518" first="Deanna" last="Jeffcoat"]</strong> and <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="175325" first="Morgan" last="Champion"]</strong> did their part today by knocking down three pointers out on the perimeter. Jeffcoat and Champion both scored 13 points today. Deanna connected on 4 three pointers while Champion dropped 3 from the behind the line. This tandem was able to free up Edwards down low when knocking down shots. <em><strong>Senior Farewell </strong></em> Bishop England will look to replace some key players next season for Head Coach Paul Runey. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="262009" first="Ella" last="Schar"]</strong>, <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="207410" first="Ally" last="Dominiak"]</strong>, and <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="258142" first="Princess" last="Scott"]</strong> all saw extensive minutes here tonight. Schar was able to drop some elbow jumpers and felt very comfortable playing face-up to the basket. Ally is a scrappy guard who was able to finish at the basket with her left-hand on a few occasions this evening. Dominiak finished her career with 1:45 left in the 4th quarter when she was whistled for her 5th foul. Scott a back to the basket post player really had some hard times finishing above the bigger Edwards. Mungo didn’t hesitate with her play on the floor at the Florence Center. The future looks very bright for Lady Bulldogs basketball. <em><strong>What’s Next? </strong></em> The Lady Bulldogs now play Keenan HS and <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="124104" first="Milaysia" last="Fulwiley"] </strong>in the Class 3A State Championship Game.
