With the North Dakota state tournament said and done let’s recap some top performers from the tournament and how each of these individual players powered their team into the next round of play.
[player_tooltip player_id="14168" first="Abby" last="Duchscherer"] - Kindred - (6’1/SG/2022) - No stranger to any list, the number 1 player in the state of North Dakota currently and Alabama Crimson Tide commit for softball [player_tooltip player_id="14168" first="Abby" last="Duchscherer"] is a terror on the basketball court. She’s helped guide the Vikings to an undefeated season thus far and continues to throw the punches. She ended the game against Beulah with 22 points, 8 steals, and 7 rebounds. Abby was all over the court almost snagging a triple-double and helping Kindred advance with a victory of 72-29.
[player_tooltip player_id="100425" first="Walker" last="Demers"] - Grafton - (6’3/PF/2023) - A top notch physical player that can get the job done inside and out. Demers is for sure an all-state player this year. Walker recently just commit to play ball for Division 1 University of South Dakota. Mind you she’s only a junior, but she stands at 6’3, runs the court like a buck, has a great finesse in the post and can’t be stopped 1 on 1. Demers had a solid night against Kenmare dropping a double-double good for 24 points and 10 rebounds in securing the spoilers with a 59-34 victory.
[player_tooltip player_id="257890" first="Jaya" last="Henderson"] - Langdon Area - (5’8/CG/2024) - Jaya had one of her best defensive performances against Mohall-Lansford-Sherwood. She was a different bread of beast on the court that couldn’t be stopped nor could the offense get around her. She used her great length and speed to cut off defenders and read passing lanes with ease snagging 3 steals within the first quarter of play. Langdon applied great pressure to the Mavericks in which they crumbled apart. Henderson finished the game with a handful of steals, 24 points and 4 assists to help the cardinals move on.
[player_tooltip player_id="100449" first="Hailey" last="Quam"] - Shiloh Christian - (5’11/PF/2023) - Quam was for sure the X factor in the Skyhawks game against the Linton-HMB Lions. She used her physical strength and long athletic frame to keep up with the smaller Lion guards and showcased phenomenal footwork for cutting offensive players off. Quam is a 3 level scorer depending on the night sometimes, but showcased a talented offensive arsenal. She scored inside and out taking mismatches and hit a pivotal 3 point shot in the 3rd quarter to push the Skyhawks lead up to 15. Quam finished the game with a double-double scoring 18 points and snagging 10 rebounds.
[player_tooltip player_id="99803" first="Grace" last="Kelly"] - Shiloh Christian - (5’11/PF/2023) - [player_tooltip player_id="99803" first="Grace" last="Kelly"] did what she’s always done and that’s be an offensive and defensive threat on the court. Kelly pairs so well with [player_tooltip player_id="100449" first="Hailey" last="Quam"] being so multi-dimensional on the court guarding 2-5 depending on the situation. On this particular night it played in their favor. Kelly is so impressive within the low post and exposing slower post players. She can put the ball on the floor and drive with such great pace as well. Kelly finished with a game high 19 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. Between Kelly and Quam they combined for 37 of the Skyhawks 48 points.
