<span style="font-weight: 400;">Teams have ascended to the Boro looking to capitalize on the opportunity to take home the gold ball. Thursday saw two spectacular semi-finals games that had some impressive ball players playing. Here is a recap of Thursday’s sensational hoop scenes.</span>
<span style="font-weight: 400;">Game 1</span>
<span style="font-weight: 400;">The game between York Institute and Gatlinburg-Pittman will definitely go down as a barn burner that went down to the wire. The 1st quarter saw a back and forth matchup with girls hitting shots from multiple spots as they settled in. The second quarter saw York jump out to an impressive 9 point lead in the second. Coming out of the half Coach Moore gave the Lady Highlanders their marching orders and they went back to the basics, establishing the paint. They had an impressive 3rd quarter where they outscored the Lady Dragonettes 17-8. This game came down to the wire, but the ladies of York prevailed and will go on to compete for a championship as they won 66-65.</span>
<b>Standouts of the game:</b>
<b>[player_tooltip player_id="245318" first="Ellen" last="Leffew"] (5’9/Jr./ York Institute)</b><span style="font-weight: 400;">- Was too much for the Lady Highlanders as she hit some key buckets down the stretch. She finished with 19 points and 6 boards.</span>
<b>[player_tooltip player_id="285362" first="Gabby" last="Beaty"] (5’8/Jr./ York Institute)</b><span style="font-weight: 400;">- Was big time from the free throw line and was solid from the field. She got some key rebounds that led to some transition buckets. Gabby finished the game with 14 points and 8 rebounds.</span>
<b>[player_tooltip player_id="245364" first="Maddie" last="Newman"] (6’1/So./ Gatlinbur -Pittman)</b><span style="font-weight: 400;">- Was outstanding for the Lady Highlanders as she finished with 31 points and 9 rebounds. She dominated the painted area on the offensive end. Showed scouts impressive footwork with her back to the basket moves.</span>
<b>Leah Stinnett (5’6/ PG/ Gatlinburg-Pittman)</b><span style="font-weight: 400;">- Had 16 points, 2 rebounds, and 4 assists. Played solid as she conducted the Lady Highlanders attack. Was able to get a couple of steals as she helped to swing the momentum during the game.</span>
<b>Game 2</b>
<span style="font-weight: 400;">The early evening game saw the Lady Chargers of Westview take on the Alcoa Lady Tornados. Early on, the Lady Tornados showed their dominance as they came out on fire. As the Lady Chargers settled in, they went into warp speed as they played lockdown defense, forcing Alcoa into tough shots. Though it was a low scoring game, Westview was able to capitalize on turnovers and finished in the paint. It will be the Lady Chargers of Westview who will take on York in the championship game, as they won 44-32 over Alcoa.</span>
<b>Standouts of the game:</b>
<b>[player_tooltip player_id="245287" first="Jada" last="Harrison"] (5’7/Jr./ Westview)</b><span style="font-weight: 400;">- Dynamic scoring guard who put the team on her back. She wouldn’t be denied as she found multiple ways to hit the net. From knocking down shots inside to going 3-3 beyond the arc, she finished with 25 points and 7 rebounds.</span>
<b>[player_tooltip player_id="245344" first="Macie" last="Ridge"] (5’7/ Jr./ Alcoa)</b><span style="font-weight: 400;">- Played a solid game on both ends of the floor as she went for 13 points and 7 rebounds. Her impressive effort led the way for her club even though they came up short. She contributed on the boards, giving her club second chance points down the stretch.</span>
