No. 5: Katie Ledden Katie Ledden 6'0" | SG Rutgers Prep | 2023 State NJ – 6-0 SG, Rutgers Prep
Ledden has made quite the massive jump in the rankings after a standout season at Rutgers Prep that culminated with a spot in the Tournament of Champions. Her height has helped contributed well to her success as she’s found a calling as a dominant defensive player. It’s also allowed her really shine offensively as well. Ledden’s defensive stats have stayed consistent over the past few years, but her 15.1 points per game this season were a career-high. She excelled inside the perimeter and finished strong near the rim. That jump in offensive production is a really good sign for her senior year.
No. 7: Mattison Chiera Mattison Chiera 5'10" | CG Colonia | 2023 State NJ – 5-10 SF, Colonia
Chiera, like Ledden, made a double-digit rankings jump into the top 10 after guiding Colonia to one of its best seasons in program history. Her 17.1 points per game and 63 made three-pointers paced the team this season, and additionally, she averaged 3.3 steals a game and 7.6 rebounds a game. Chiera was one of the more well-rounded players throughout the state and easily put in career numbers across the board. She matured into her role and had immense success as a perimeter shooter. Her smooth shooting motion and flawless release has given her consistent success.
No. 10: Brynn McCurry Brynn McCurry 6'1" | PF Sparta | 2023 State NJ – 6-1 PF, Sparta
What a fantastic season of basketball McCurry put together as a junior, averaging over 20 points a game for the first time in her career and helping guide Sparta to a state title. The driving force of this team, without a doubt, is McCurry and you can see it by her demeanor on the court. She wants the ball in her hands, trying to make a big time play. When the clock is winding down, there is no player who wants to drive into the lane or stop a scoring opportunity more than her. The fire in her eyes comes out in competition often and it guided Sparta to recent uncharted territory.
No. 23: Riley Ahrens Riley Ahrens 5'10" | SG Delran | 2023 State NJ – 5-10 SG, Delran
Ahrens has moved up into the early 20s on our prospect rankings after her best season with Delran, vastly improving her three-point shooting and shot-blocking. This was Ahrens’ best defensive season of her high school career to date, utilizing her size to stand tall in the lane and not back down on shot attempts. She looks more comfortable on the court than ever before, which has most definitely contributed to her overall success with Delran. Expect immense improvement in the summer going into her senior year.
No. 19: Avery Kessler Avery Kessler SG Shawnee | 2023 State NJ – SG, Shawnee
We’ve kept a close eye on Kessler since transferring from Shawnee and she’s developed into an All-Conference type player with the Renegades. She averaged a career high 13.7 points a game this season along with 37 made three-pointers, 2.6 steals a game and 3.7 steals a game. Kessler reached new heights of success as she took over the reigns of this team along with fellow junior Nia Scott Nia Scott 6'1" | PF Shawnee | 2023 State NJ . The two formed a power duo that took Shawnee to the South Jersey Group 4 final. Kessler is a must-watch player heading into next season, no doubt.
