The 2022 Sunshine State Showdown served as a kickoff event to start the spring/summer travel season hosting 120 teams, 183 games, over 900 players, 2,000 fans and crowned 14 champions across eight divisions from 10U all the way to 17U. All weekend players were draining 3s from everywhere on the court. Here are some 2024 and 2025 Prospects Who Got Hot From 3 At The 2022 SSS!
Class of 2024
Hilary Englert Hilary Englert 5'10" | SF Bolles | 2024 State FL (ECU 2024 Clarke) 5’10 Guard
Englert was straight up on fire Sunday afternoon when she knocked down FIVE 3-pointers versus New Wave Basketball 16U in ECU 2024 Clarke final game of the 2022 Sunshine State Showdown! Englert is another big, young guard who shoots an exceptional percentage from 3 and is dangerous from anywhere on the court.
Briana Rivera Briana Rivera 5'7" | CG Lake Highland Prep | 2024 State FL (Essence Purple 17U EYBL) 5’7 Guard
Rivera is widely considered one of the top 3-point shooters in the state. Rivera debuted with Essence Purple 17U EYBL at the 2022 Sunshine State Showdown and came out firing early knocking down FIVE 3-pointers versus ECEDAO out of Puerto Rico. The 5’7 Guard is basically in range when she steps on the court. With a quick release, and deep deep range, Rivera is a game changer and should be a highly coveted prospect in the class of 2024.
Natalie Allen (ECU Family 2024) 5’8 Guard
Allen at 5’8 has a quick release with excellent shooting form and really helps ECU Family 2024 spread the floor benefiting from the penetration and kick of the quick backcourt players that ECU is loaded with. Versus Tre Mann Elite 16U, Allen knocked down an impressive FOUR 3-pointers, powering her squad to the win.
Jada Eads Jada Eads 5'6" | PG Lake Highland Prep | 2024 State FL (CFE 17U 3SSB) 5’6 Guard
Eads is a scorer! From 3, from 2, at the rim, off the bounce, pull up, catch and shoot, in transition, Eads does it all. Versus ECEDAO out of Puerto Rico, Eads got hot from 3, and knocked down FOUR 3-pointers, getting CFE 17U 3SSB an early win on Sunday morning. Eads scoring ability and impressive 3-point range make her one of the most highly coveted prospects in the state of Florida!
Class of 2025
Alessandra Bonilla Alessandra Bonilla 5'7" | SG Monsignor Edward Pace | 2025 State FL (Miami Suns Team Kiki 15U EYBL)
Bonilla is a big, young guard who was one of the catalyst in helping lead Miami Suns Team Kiki 15U EYBL to the 15U Championship. On a talented team, in a very competitive bracket, Bonilla stepped up big when her team needed her the most, knocking down FIVE 3-pointers versus ECU Family 2025 in the championship game on her way to 17 points and a 52-50 win in overtime!
Brianna Brown Brianna Brown 5'11" | SG Somerset Prep North Lauderdale | 2025 State FL (GT Queens 2024) 5’10 Guard – Class of 2025
Brown was on fire versus CFE 16U 3SSB on Saturday morning, knocking down FIVE 3-pointers for GT Queens 2024. Brown is a big 5’10 Freshman guard who is a high percentage 3-pointer who can really stroke it from anywhere on the court.
Asya Lara Barnes Asya Lara Barnes 6'0" | SF DME Academy | 2025 State FL (Compound Team Carn 17U) 5’10 Wing/Forward
Barnes played up all weekend in the 17U division for Compound Team Carn. While most of the players that are an outside threat, play the PG or SG position, Barnes is a big wing/forward who is a modern day face-up 4. Her ability to rebound the basketball, run the floor in transition and have the ball reversed to her as a trail post and knock down 3s from the top of the key, make her an extremely intriguing prospect in the class of 2025 and a potential major stock riser! Barnes has excellent size, shoots a high percentage from 3, has good passing skills, and has a high basketball IQ.
