The Class of 2024 had some breakout players from this past season and with the latest rankings update, several players stock went up as the season went on.
<span style="text-decoration: underline;">[player_tooltip player_id="357657" first="Taejhuan" last="Hill"]- 5’11 Center "Volcano Vista" Class of 2024 (#1PGHNM)</span>
[player_tooltip player_id="357657" first="Taejhuan" last="Hill"] played a significant role in helping Volcano Vista win their second straight 5A State Championship in a row. This season <strong>Taejhuan</strong> averaged an impressive 12.0 points per game and 8.1 rebounds per game. <strong>Taejhuan</strong> finished the season recording ten double-doubles. Her play helped Volcano Vista finish the regular season undefeated at 29-0. She was selected to 1st Team All-State and 1st Team All-Metro from her solid play this season. [player_tooltip player_id="357657" first="Taejhuan" last="Hill"] is already a Two-Time State Champion and will be fun to watch for the next two years.
<span style="text-decoration: underline;">[player_tooltip player_id="357673" first="Eva" last="Love"]- 5’10 Shooting Guard/Small Forward "La Cueva" Class of 2024 (#2PGHNM)</span>
[player_tooltip player_id="357673" first="Eva" last="Love"] had a solid sophomore year for the La Cueva Bears this season. She led the team in scoring averaging 13.1 points per game, averaged 4.6 rebounds per game and 3.0 assists per game. Among the players in the 2024 Class, she was the second leading scorer among sophomores this season. <strong>Eva</strong> was impressive on the defensive end averaging 3.1 steals per game which made her and teammate [player_tooltip player_id="353758" first="Rylie" last="Ottmann"] a tough defensive duo. Eva had three 20-point games this season and three double-doubles. Her play helped La Cueva finish the season 21-7 and reach the 5A Semifinals. <strong>Eva</strong> will be a player to keep your eyes on the next two years.
<span style="text-decoration: underline;">[player_tooltip player_id="357650" first="Caitlin" last="Turnbow"]- 5’10 Center "Organ Mountain" Class of 2024 (#5PGHNM)</span>
Organ Mountain Center [player_tooltip player_id="357650" first="Caitlin" last="Turnbow"] had a good sophomore season leading her school to the 5A Quarterfinals in the State Tournament. <strong>Caitlin</strong> quickly became a popular name this season with her solid play. She averaged close to a double-double with 12.4 points per game and 8.5 rebounds per game. She was the 10th leading rebounder in New Mexico this season and among the 2024 Class, she was 4th in scoring among the other sophomores. This season <strong>Caitlin</strong> had four 20-point games and thirteen double-doubles. <strong>Caitlin</strong> will continue making some noise for the rest of her high school career.
<span style="text-decoration: underline;">[player_tooltip player_id="391242" first="Leah" last="Valdez"]- Shooting Guard "Bernalillo" Class of 2024 (#8PGHNM)</span>
Sophomore [player_tooltip player_id="391242" first="Leah" last="Valdez"] was one of the best three-point shooters in New Mexico this season. Her lights out shooting helped Bernalillo finish 28-2 this year and reach the 4A State Championship game vs Kirtland Central. <strong>Leah</strong> was Bernalillo’s second leading scorer by averaging 11.5 points per game this season. She made 66 three-pointers this season which was the 6th most in New Mexico this year and shot an incredible 46% from beyond the arc which was the third highest three-point percentage in New Mexico this year. <strong>Leah</strong> will continue to light it up from three for her junior year next season.
<span style="text-decoration: underline;">[player_tooltip player_id="357678" first="Olivia" last="Francia"]- 5’5 Point Guard "West Mesa" Class of 2024 (#10PGHNM)</span>
West Mesa Point Guard [player_tooltip player_id="357678" first="Olivia" last="Francia"] made some strides this year with her play and gotten better as the season went on. She averaged about 10 points per game and finished the season as West Mesa’s second leading scorer. <strong>Olivia</strong> had ten games this season of scoring in double digits and was one of the teams most consistent players. Expect <strong>Olivia</strong> to take the next step in her game next season.
