With such a robust amount of prospects included, there are bound to be new names soaring up the rankings list. With that being said, here are five stock risers from the 2024 class.
No. 11: Abby Misier Abby Misier 6'4" | C Highstown | 2024 State NJ – 6-3 C, Hightstown
Misier had herself one heck of a sophomore season for Hightstown, averaging a 13/13 double-double along with over 3.5 blocks a game. Those numbers at the high school level are unheard of. Even after averaging a double-double in eight games as a freshman, she built upon the foundation that was laid out in that time and turned into a force to be reckoned with. Misier figured out how to better use her size and frame to her advantage and in turn, became a premier forward in New Jersey.
No. 15: Alyssa Craigwell Alyssa Craigwell 5'9" | SF Secaucus | 2024 State NJ – 5-9 SF, Secaucus
Craigwell very much came out of nowhere coming into this season, scoring just eight points in five games as a freshman. As a sophomore, Craigwell averaged 17.1 points a game along with 8.9 rebounds a game, 46 made three-pointers and 3.6 steals a game. She’s able to play at her pace and slow down a game to allow her to dominate as she did the entire year. The biggest thing for Craigwell was getting consistent starting minutes to allow her to establish her presence as a shooter and scorer in the lane. Not just that, but that built continuous continuous confidence Craigwell continued to ride throughout the year.
No. 24: Kaci Mikulski Kaci Mikulski 5'8" | CG Wildwood Catholic Academy | 2024 State NJ – 5-8 SG, Wildwood Catholic
Mikulski was another unranked player who we saw make some big moves for Wildwood Catholic as a sophomore. This all-conference guard turned in one of the best overall shooting performances in the state this season, knocking down 64 threes on the year, 2.2 a game. Nearly half of her offense came from beyond the arc and it was clear to see why she had so much success. Mikulski can create both on and of-ball, finding open looks quite often to operate. She’s also great at shooting in pressure-packed situations with defenders on her. That’s what has made the difference for her to date.
No. 41: Maya Giordano Maya Giordano C Old Tappan | 2024 State NJ – C, Old Tappan
Giordano made a slight jump in our updated rankings as we saw her really able to operate for Old Tappan over the course of a full season. She played in just five games as a freshman, but ended up recording 11.9/8 averages as a sophomore. While she most assuredly deserved a bump, there’s still much to her game that we’re waiting to see her improve upon. There’s room to grow, which means room to move up in the rankings. We’re expecting Giordano, a center with a solid build and decent wingspan able to get to a great deal of shots, to pick things up in a big way this summer heading into the fall.
No. 38: Madison Miller Madison Miller 6'3" | C Morris Catholic | 2024 State NJ – 6-3 C, Pope John
Miller faced much of the same resurgence to her game that Giordano did, with both having barely played in their freshman year. The 6-3 center from Pope John went on to average 10.1 points a game and eight rebounds a game this season. However, the most impressive part of her game was her shot-blocking, where she recorded just over two blocks a game. That was amongst the leaders in the state in that category, showing how well she’s user height and wingspan to her advantage. Miller should be in the running for all-conference honors come this winter/next spring, so stay tuned.
