I had a chance to watch plenty of talented players at The Exclusive and let me say this, the talent started off overwhelming which definitely was a boost from on Friday as I was drained from the flight as well as not checking the weather yet on opening night, I caught an abundance of talented players and the Houston Lady Nets 2024
Zakenya Thompson-Lauderdale-5’6 CG (Spring HS) Houston Lady Nets 2024
Thompson-Lauderdale is becoming one of the breakout stars on the circuit and before you ask me why, please don’t because I hate being questioned yet there’s no question about her potential because she is putting together some impressive skills that can be used on the court. First of all, she goes hard on both ends, I love that yet she’s powerful off the dribble and scores after contact but she also rebounds over taller players and drops the jumper mid to long-range, the stop and pop in transition was smoking
[player_tooltip player_id="318146" first="Jill" last="Twiehaus"]-5’9 SG (Jenks HS) Oklahoma Swift 2024-Mathurin
Twiehaus sold me last season because of her length and athletic ability, yeah long and athletic, and she not only created her shot but elevated to get it off plus it as consistently dropped from mid to long-range. Nothing has changed yet it has as the range is deeper but I’m digging her first step to either go by the defender to finish or use the step-back but hold on, her court vision also looks better, so does her "on the ball" defense and rebounding
Nalani Gouyd-5’9 SG (Sapulpa HS) Oklahoma Swift 2024-Scarborough/Gaulden
Gouyd is so smooth as she attacks the basket that I truly enjoyed watching her set the defender up with a deceptive first step yet she also has good body control to make some off-balance shots. What added to the equation was her ability to drop the jumper, which meant the defender couldn’t give her too much room but hold on before she dropped the mic on something I love seeing and that’s "played the passing lane"
[player_tooltip player_id="419330" first="Christina" last="Harris"] -5’6 SG (Lake Ridge HS) Team Stay Ready 2024
Harris showed me enough on Saturday when she attacked and finished after contact using an impressive first step as well as good body control after the lick yet Sunday, her ability to knock down jumpers "Just Did It" for me. Her release is quick, she goes up strongly but she’s under control while going hard, that’s good especially with her frame as she can punish the defender, on both ends. I also enjoyed her "playing within herself" nothing fancy and letting it come to her
[player_tooltip player_id="374185" first="Kavi" last="Voglund"]-5’8 PG (Poudre HS) Colorado Sparks 2024 [2025]
Voglund has red hair, I love using "fiery" and one Sunday, she definitely went off. Yeah, I enjoyed her game on Saturday, took her picture because I’m clairvoyant and just knew. I love her pull-up jumper yet I also enjoyed the fact that she knocked it down with a hand in her face, yet she also attacks the basket strongly ad finishes after contact. I caught her "being vocal on the court", that’s huge, so is her upside when you factor in she’s a freshman
