WDA Breakout Prospect
[player_tooltip player_id="245588" first="McKenna" last="Johnson"], the Freshman All-Stater really broke out this season. She’s on the rise and Division 1 programs are taking notice. She’s receiving a ton of interest and NDSU and University of Mary have already offered. The Freshman broke-out in a major way with 13.5 ppg., 11.2 rpg., and led the WDA with 3.9 bkpg. She’s giving the WDA a lot of excitement.
Bismarck High (19-6)
Bismarck High had a very good season, winning 19 games on the season. They had contributions from a series of prospects. 2023 guard [player_tooltip player_id="196272" first="Peyton" last="Neumiller"] first comes to mind. She’s a top 2023 in the state as a major scoring threat at 14.8 ppg. Her biggest difference-making trait is her defensive playmaking. She was second in the WDA in steals at 3.1 per game. [player_tooltip player_id="196268" first="Payton" last="Gerving"] was neck-and-neck with [player_tooltip player_id="100419" first="Logan" last="Nissley"] as a top three-point shooter in North Dakota. She had a remarkable season shooting the three making 56 of 127 for 44.1%. She was a high-volume shooter and was also highly efficient - a rare combination. [player_tooltip player_id="243474" first="Paige" last="Breuer"] is a smaller 2024 guard with ball-handling skills, quickness, and ability to score from mid-range and three. She put in 8.0 ppg. this season. She plays much bigger than she is and is a vital piece and playmaker for Bismarck. 2024 wing [player_tooltip player_id="378042" first="Jersey" last="Berg"] is a versatile wing prospect that we’re very high on here at PGH Dakotas. Her stats don't speak to her impact on her team and her upside she has.
Mandan (11-12)

The future is bright at Mandan and that talk starts with rising star and WDA breakout prospect [player_tooltip player_id="245588" first="McKenna" last="Johnson"]. She’s someone a program can build and rally around. [player_tooltip player_id="379112" first="Hailey" last="Markel"] is a 2024 shooting guard that Mandan will rely on to keep developing as well. She’ll be with the ND Attack program, so you can count on her improving this off-season. Hailey is solidly built at 5’8 and moves well. She could be poised for a breakout season next year and average 10+ ppg. [player_tooltip player_id="408229" first="Mya" last="Sheldon"] will have an expanded role next season at the guard spot, as a defender, scorer, and ball-handler for Mandan to win important games.

St. Mary’s (6-14)
It’s long overdue to mention the St. Mary’s squad. Even though they only won six games, they were very competitive night in and night out. They also have a large number of prospects that we need to know. It first starts out with 2023 prospect [player_tooltip player_id="248044" first="Mykendra" last="Messer"]. Her ranking needs to be adjusted after having seen her more. She’ll most likely fall in the top 20 in the 2023 class, after having a stellar season and good size and length at a guard/wing spot. Mykendra was a top scorer in the WDA at 14.3 ppg. and was one of the top three-point shooters as well. She was 38-99 from deep for 38.3%. 2023 guard [player_tooltip player_id="100422" first="Lydia" last="Spies"], is an athletic prospect with impressive movement on the court. She’s long at 5’9, to go along with her athletic ability. Needs some minor refinement with her ball-skills, but she has some good future upside if she chooses college basketball. [player_tooltip player_id="408451" first="Natalie" last="Larson"] is a 2025 prospect that has valuable varsity experience and she showed she belongs already. She averaged 6.2 ppg. as a Freshman and has a quick and accurate release from deep. 5’9 2024/guard/wing, [player_tooltip player_id="408213" first="Lexi" last="Gerving"] was just added to the database and is one of the more highly underrated and under-talked about young prospects in the state. She is an outstanding defender that is active, high IQ, and great positioning. Attacks and fights for rebounds and works hard for positioning. She has a prototypical size frame and length. 2023 guard, [player_tooltip player_id="408450" first="Gabrielle" last="Mann"], shot lights-out from three, going 20-50 for a staggering 40.0%.
Turtle Mountain (4-18)
Turtle Mountain is highlighted by second leading scorer in the WDA in [player_tooltip player_id="377821" first="Amya" last="Gourneau"]. She put in 19.8 ppg. in the regular season. Per Twitter, she will be playing with the Impact Basketball program this off-season. She’s a smooth, controlled, and skilled guard. A good handle on the ball, allowing her to get to the hoop and is a talented finisher when she gets there. Can score at all three levels, with an effective off-the-dribble pull-up game. Will be contending with Nissley for the scoring title in her Senior season.
