Obviously with over 288 teams in attendance and three of us, we were only able to see a handful of teams, so these are not necessarily the best players who where there, but these are some we saw while maneuvering our way around the nearly 30 courts in the David Lawrence Convention Center.
Here I am looking at a handful of players who I saw on Day 2 of the event. Later this week, we will look at some key point guards, defenders, offensive players and post players.
Kaylee Carson, 5-7, Team Curry 10th
Super impressed with the work ethic and intensity of Kaylee (feature photo above) as I saw her game vs 1Nation on Saturday morning. She possesses good handles and was able to create for her teammates. She plays well downhill and is able to play through contact, not afraid of the bigger players who stand in her way of the rim. She does a nice job slashing, and can pull up and hit the midrange jumper.
Madison Siggins, 6-0 Leigh Valley Fever 16U
She was a fun player watch as she was an aggressive player so was impressive around the rim. She does a very solid job sealing her defender in the paint and scoring at the rim. Has some strong post moves in the paint. Impressed with her solid court vision and was able to find her teammates for the better shot. Good leader for her team.
Jojo Eberhart, 5-10 OH Lady Hoopsters Impact 16U
She has a good reputation in Ohio as being one of the top players from the Central Ohio area, and she showed some great skills in the game I saw vs Sideline Cancer. Jojo showed good explosion to the rim on the drive and does nice job protecting the ball. She is an exception passer and can distribute the ball smoothly. Jojo (pictured left) has a good basketball IQ and a player who could impact a team at the next level.
Joniyah Bland-Fitzpatrick, 5-10 New Heights NYC 11th
Very impressive group of young ladies on this team, and Joniyah was one who really stood out to me. She has very active hands and gets steals in their fast-paced style of game. She finishes at the rim with contact and gets to the free throw line. She has a good work ethic and solid intangibles. Ceiling is open for this talented player.
Alayna Rocco, 5-10 Western PA Bruins UAA 11th
She was so impressive, and really showcased her overall game in their game I saw vs ABC Lightning. Alayna loves to play the game fast ad pushes north-south as well as anyone. She has excellent court vision, plays solid on-ball defense and has active hands. With the ball she is a great passer and can score in a variety of ways, a good perimeter game, floater in the paint or at the rim,
