Hosted at the Knoxville Convention Center, it was an exciting weekend to see kids from our state, compete against each other, as they jockeyed for bragging rights and to capture the gold ball. It was a very talented field, with young ladies from across the state going at each other, making a name for themselves. The weekend offered clubs an outstanding platform to compete on for a non-live period event. The clubs that competed in the tournament, brought a lot of excitement each time the ball tipped off.
The winners of the 2022 AAU State Championships goes as follows (only freshman-juniors are mentioned).
11th Grade Girls Champions: ETA Thunder-Campos 2023
10th Grade Girls Champions: ETA Thunder- Campos 2024
9th Grade Champions in Championship Bracket: TN Lady Volcanoes 2025
9th Grade Champions in D1 Championship Bracket: BMaze Elite
Congrats to these clubs on accomplishing such a feat. Here at PGH Tennessee, we would like to recognize just a few talented young ladies who were hooping it up on the hardwood this past weekend. These ladies had a tremendous weekend and we would like to share a few names that peaked our interest.
Kallie Housley Kallie Housley 5'6" | SG Corbin | 2024 State KY (5’7/PG/Jr./ Corbin/ ETA Thunder)– Even though she doesn’t hail from this great volunteer state, I had to mention her because she was the bomb this past weekend scoring in double figures in multiple games. This PG was on fire, scoring in bunches. Add a couple of 20+ games and she had a phenomenal weekend. This kid is a multi-level scoring threat that has a dominant on court presence. Scoring the ball is her thing, she can also dish and as well as facilitate the offense. She isn’t bad on the defensive end either. Great kid who is an awesome talent.
Josie Horner Josie Horner 6'2" | C Northview Academy | 2024 State TN (6’2/PF/So./Northview Academy./ ETA Thunder)– Phenomenal talent. Possesses great footwork. Can play with back to the basket or face up. Dominant player in the paint, who can also step out and stroke it. Josie can pull her load on the offensive end, but it doesn’t just stop there. Solid two-way player who is a beast on the boards on both ends. She anchors the middle on D, clogging up lanes and being a dominant threat downlow. Untapped potential and will keep getting better. Lock your eyes on this kid because one day she will be a solid addition to a collegiate program.
Anna Drakeford (5’6/G/So./Mercey Co./ ETA Thunder)– Another female hooper that hails from the BlueGrass state, Anna and ETA Thunder are a perfect match for each other. She is an outstanding hooper that can score the rock. Multi-level scoring threat who is a wiz with the ball in her hands. Can shoot it off the catch or score it off pick n roll action, can finish against contact, solid all around. Not afraid to lock up someone on the defensive end. Anna is a hard nosed player who loves to compete. Look for her to gain even more confidence the more she continues to play.
Meeyah Green (5’7/CG/8th Grader/Knoxville-Webb/Bmaze Elite)– Dynamic scoring guard who is leaving her mark every chance she gets to see the court. Phenomenal scoring threat, who is hard to stop. Can pull up, attack down hill, come off screens, catch and shoot, it is hard to stop this young lady and she is just getting started. Old school hooper mentality, plays the game with grit and grind. Handles the ball with poise.Excellent teammate. Very coachable. Humbled. Plays the game with a lot of heart. So many characteristics can describe Meeyah. What college coaches need to know is that she is a gym-rat who loves to put in the hard work. She is selfless, yet knows when to put the team on her back. Like I mentioned before, she is just getting started and leaving her thumbprint everywhere. Look for her to be one of the next best female hoopers in her class to come from the volunteer state.
Delaney Weddington Delaney Weddington 5'10" | SG Morristown-Hamblen West | 2025 State TN (5’9/SG/Fr./ Morristown-Hamblen West/ TN Lady Volcanoes)– Solid kid who contributes on both ends of the floor. Delaney can shoot the rock at a high clip, scoring on multiple levels. Has great court awareness, such a heady player. Doesn’t force the issue, plays with poise. Great selfless teammate who does the little things right. Boxes out, plays help D, makes timely assists, you name it. Anytime something good happens on the floor, Delaney more than likely had a hand in the mix. Played a lot during her freshman year campaign. Look for her to continue to grow throughout the rest of the AAU season and into her HS campaign.
Kimora Fields (6 ’0/PF/8th Grader/Lake Forrest MS/ BMaze Elite)– A beast downlow, Kimora continues to rise to the challenge of those older than her. Plays with a chip on her shoulder, Kimora loves to mix it up and compete. Can score the rock consistently from inside the arc, she’s dominant on the boards, a big-time threat defensively, and can get up and down the court. Plays the game with an impressive motor, her skills are consistently improving the more she plays. Keep an eye on this young lady as she is already turning collegiate coaches’ heads at such a young age. Phenomenal player with a bright future.
Karli Haworth Karli Haworth 5'6" | PG Alcoa | 2023 State TN (5’6/PG/Jr./ Alcoa/ ETA Thunder)– Very selfless player who is a key contributor to her team’s offensive attack. Has great on floor presence and knows when to distribute the ball in a timely manner. Can score the rock from multiple levels, but can also pick and choose when to attack and when to pull back. Smart heady player who has a great pulse for the game. Tough. High basketball IQ. Can handle the ball with pressure. Had a solid weekend. Karli keeps getting better every time she steps on the floor. She’s a hustler with a tremendous motor and does the little things that don’t necessarily show up in the stat columns. Great kid who plays the game hard and the right way.
