We released an updated rankings for the class of 2023 this week. Today we look at the 2023 stock risers!
You can take a look at the Class of 2023 Rankings HERE:
Alancia Ramsey Alancia Ramsey 6'0" | PF St Thomas Aquinas | 2023 State FL (St. Thomas Aquinas / Essence) – 6’0 Forward
New Ranking: 4 Previous Ranking: 6
Ramsey moves up 2 spots (from # 6 to # 4) due to her stellar play for St Thomas this season. She is a big force inside, and has an old school mentality, always being the most physical and aggressive player on the court. College coaches will love watching her this summer on the EYBL circuit, as every team and coach needs and wants a player like Ramsey!
Karina Gordon Karina Gordon 5'8" | CG St. Thomas Aquinas | 2023 State FL (St. Thomas Aquinas / Miami Suns) – 5’8 Guard
New Ranking: 5 Previous Ranking: 15
Gordon had a big-time season for St. Thomas and jumps up the rankings 10 spots, all the way up to # 5. Gordon has always been a talented two-way player but she finally produced consistently on the court, showcasing her offensive skill, athleticism, and ability to guard and keep players out of the paint off the dribble.
Mjracle Sheppard Mjracle Sheppard 5'8" | CG Montverde Academy | 2023 State FL (Montverde Academy / Essence) – 5’8 Guard
New Ranking: 7 Previous Ranking: 11
Sheppard was a big part of Montverde success, establishing herself as a consistent and steady ball handler, running the teams offense, getting the ball to open players in scoring position, not turning the ball over, and selectively finding scoring opportunities. She moves from # 11, up to # 7 in the updated rankings.
Khyala Ngodu Khyala Ngodu 6'2" | PF Dillard | 2023 State FL (Dillard HS / Miami Suns) – 6’2 Forward
New Ranking: 9 Previous Ranking: 16
Ngodu has moved up and down the rankings, based on her health. She is a versatile inside/out player who when healthy is one of the top inside players in the state. Ngodu appears to be close to 100% and was effective for the Miami Suns at the Sunshine State Showdown. She moves up from # 16, into the top 10 at # 9 overall in the class of 2023.
Eleecia Carter Eleecia Carter 5'7" | CG Lake Highland Prep | 2023 State FL (Lake Highland Prep / Central Florida Elite) – 5’7 Guard
New Ranking: 14 Previous Ranking: 19
Carter is a talented and athletic combo guard, who can handle the ball, attack in transition, and knock down open 3s. She was one of the top players for Lake Highland Prep, leading them to a 4A State Championship. On a loaded LHP roster, Carter stayed healthy, and was extremely consistent on the offensive end. Her shooting ability from the 3 is one of the main reasons she jumps up 5 spots from # 19 to # 14.
Rusne Augustinaite Rusne Augustinaite 5'10" | CG Montverde Academy | 2023 State FL (Montverde Academy) – 5’10 Guard – VIRGINIA TECH
New Ranking: 11 Previous Ranking: 29
Augustinaite is verbally committed to Virginia Tech and was one of the main players for the loaded Montverde Academy squad this season. She is long, skilled, versatile and has a high IQ. After previously struggling vs physical and aggressive play, she appears to have adjusted and showcased her scoring ability throughout the high school season.
Sophya Barreiro Sophya Barreiro 5'4" | CG Colonial | 2023 State FL (Colonial HS / Team Knight) – 5’4 Guard
New Ranking: 28 Previous Ranking: 35
Barreiro jumps up inside the top 30 and earns the title of one of my favorite players in the 2023 class. She is a confident, skilled, savvy point guard who handles the ball with calming court presence. She was one of the main catalyst for the talented Colonial HS squad who had an exceptional season and brings that over the 3SSB circuit for Team Knight this travel season.
Arianna Mosley Arianna Mosley 5'9" | SF Tampa Prep | 2023 State FL (Tampa Prep / FGB) – 5’9 Guard
New Ranking: 29 Previous Ranking: 53
Mosley jumps up 20 spots from 53 all the way to 29. She is one of the top athletes in the state and has been a consistent 20+ point per game scorer for Tampa Prep. We have got a chance to see her play several times at the Show N Prove showcase, Top 250 Expo, and the Sunshine State Showdown. Her potential and ceiling are high and looking forward to seeing her play against higher level competition on the UAA circuit.
Madelyn Leslie Madelyn Leslie 5'10" | SG Gulf Coast | 2023 State FL (Gulf Coast / Hoop Dreams) – 5’10 Wing – TAMPA
New Ranking: 36 Previous Ranking: 47
Leslie verbally committed to the University of Tampa during the high school season. Her shooting ability is her biggest strength as she helps every team that she plays with space the floor by knocking down open 3s. At 5’10, she has a high release point and can get her shot off quickly and over the top defenders. She averaged 12.6 points and 5.8 rebounds per game while shooting 40% from 3, knocking down 2+ 3s per game, including a season high 6 3-pointers vs Clearwater and 5 3-pointers five times!
Tyra Brown Tyra Brown 6'2" | SF Fort Myers | 2023 State FL (Fort Myers HS / FGB) – 6’2 Wing/Forward
New Ranking: 37 Previous Ranking: 48
Brown is one of the top athletes in the 2023 class and is extremely versatile. She is converting from being exclusively a forward to more of a wing/forward. Her perimeter skills are improving but still need time. Her ability to run the floor, block shots, grab offensive rebounds and use her athleticism, wing span and jumping ability are all reasons why she continues to move up the rankings and has a high ceiling.
About Class of 2023 Rankings
This is the first update of the 2023 rankings in 2022. We have taken a look at players performance and potential with both their High School and Travel teams.
