Continue ReadingOver the last two years, these 2024 players have had to wait their turn. They have either had talented upperclassmen playing ahead of them, or just needed more time to develop their games. These players have played well in travel ball this year and are looking to continue their good play in the showcase tournament and the July college-live period. Moreover, these players are poised for special Junior campaigns next high school season.
Mychaela Parker Mychaela Parker 6'2" | C Orange Park | 2024 State FL , 6’2″ (Orange Park/MHD Elite/ PGH #86) Parker is strong in the paint and when she attacks the basket, she usually draws fouls. Parker went to the free-throw line 77 times last year and nearly 3 times per game. She does a good job on the offensive glass and can score on the inside. Last season, Parker averaged nearly 5 points per game and recorded 158 rebounds. Nearly half of Parker’s rebounds were offensive rebounds which meant extra possessions for her team. Orange Park lost some quality seniors and Parker will be called on next season to make a major contribution.
Nyala Jones Nyala Jones 6'0" | PF Mandarin | 2024 TN , 6’2″ (Mandarin/ECU Clarke 2024/PGH #161) Mandarin High School lost 3 senior starters last year and Jones could play a major role in sustaining the momentum the program has had over the past few years. Jones is a very active player, especially on the defensive end. She does a good job on the offensive glass and is very good at finding the open shooter. Jones does a good job of scoring in the paint, especially on the left block. She is also good in the pick-and-roll game. Jones could have a breakout season next year on the high school scene.
Shruthika Kondabrolu Shruthika Kondabrolu 5'10" | C Nease | 2024 State FL , 6’0″ (Nease/ECU Clarke 2024/PGH #107). Kondabrolu’s time has arrived. She has been primarily a reserve in her freshman and sophomore seasons at Nease. Kondabrolu does a lot of things well on the courts. She does a good job on the offense and defensive boards. She has excellent timing on blocking shots and she has great hands and catches anything that is thrown in her vicinity.
Charlotte Peverley Charlotte Peverley 6'0" | PF Pontre Vedra | 2024 State FL , 6’0″ (Ponte Vedra/ECU Clarke 2024/PGH #196). Peverley is poised to have a special Junior campaign and her play this AAU season is the “proof’ in the pudding. Peverley can score on the inside and can also shoot from behind the arc, where she is most comfortable. She can also shoot the long ball and thus, she is the ideal stretch-four. Peverly could be a matchup nightmare next high school basketball season. Peverly does a good job rebounding and can also bring the ball down the court. She has shown improvement on defense and even anchors the press in certain sets on her travel squad. Peverley is poised to have a special season in her Junior season.
