While college coaches likely know of these players already, I wanted to highlight some of the players in the class of 2024 that coaches should definitely have on their radars if they don’t already. These are all players that play high school ball in Kentucky, but are currently competing on teams that are based out of other states.
Kallie Housley Kallie Housley 5'6" | SG Corbin | 2024 State KY | ETA Thunder 2023 Smith | Corbin | Current Rank: #21
Housley can really put the ball in the basket, but that’s not all she can do. She has excellent floor vision and makes some really impressive passes. She plays hard-nosed defense and she plays fearless. She crashes the boards consistently and really works to get rebounds. She gives 110% effort on both ends of the floor. Housley is a fantastic outside shooter and she has been really knocking them down from deep this Spring. Her pull-up jumper is strong and she can also get to the rim where she’s a shifty finisher with both hands. The strength and IQ are both there as well.
Mariah Knight Mariah Knight 6'1" | PF Butler | 2024 State KY | Ohio United | CAL | Current Rank: #11
Knight has picked up an offer already this spring, but I’d expect that list to grow a lot more by the end of the summer. She is phenomenal down low and can knock down a mid-range or outside shot to really force the defense to stretch and make tough decisions. She has great post moves and she uses her strength to hold off the defense. Knight can finish through contact as well. On the other end of the floor, she plays good defense and is a great shot blocker. She boxes out strong and goes after rebounds. Her passing abilities and court awareness are also impressive aspects to her game.
Ava Schureman Ava Schureman 5'10" | SF Great Crossing | 2024 State KY | WV Thunder 2024 Gold | Great Crossing | Current Rank: #39
Schureman really can do it all. It’s not surprising to see her produce numbers in nearly every statistical category throughout any game she plays in. I think what is most impressive to me is how tenacious and smart she is on the defensive end. She’s in the right positions and she makes the offense really work. She can come up with steals in a variety of ways and she could guard any position on the floor. However, she is really good on the other end as well. She’s got a great shot, she handles it, she creates, she finishes, and she does it all consistently. She can pull-up from anywhere on the court or she can get all the way to the rim. She also does a great job of drawing help to create open shots for her teammates.
Ella Karst Ella Karst 5'4" | PG Harlan County | 2024 State KY | ETA Thunder 2024 Campos | Harlan County | Current Rank: #69
I love the fearlessness and toughness that I consistently see in Karst’s game. She’s got phenomenal speed and athleticism as well. She’s a high IQ player that should pick up a ton of interest throughout the next few months. Karst has got a ton of weapons on the offensive end. She can really knock down the 3 and she can do it from deep range. She’s also got an excellent mid-range game and she mixes it up with floaters and pull-ups. She uses ball fakes to her advantage and when she goes all the way to the rim, she can finish with contact as well. Beyond scoring, Karst has really good ball handling skills and creates scoring opportunities for her teammates.
Savannah Gardner Savannah Gardner 6'0" | SF Christian Academy Louisville | 2024 State KY | Cincinnati Angels 17U | CAL | Current Rank: #15
Even if you searched endless amounts of game film, it would be hard to find a player that has as high of a motor as Gardner does every game. She is going to put forth an effort no matter what the circumstance is. She is a very versatile player on both ends of the floor, and she can really play or guard almost any position. She’s got good length and she uses that to her advantage when it comes to getting steals and blocks. She reads the passing lanes well and she stays ready to come up with a steal. Gardner has good handles and is a scoring threat. She is a phenomenal outside shooter, shooting over 40% from 3 in her sophomore season with CAL. Gardner crashes the boards so hard and fights for every single rebound.
Bella Quinn Bella Quinn 5'7" | SG Russell | 2024 State KY | WV Thunder 2024 Gold | Russell | Current Rank: #42
Quinn has great speed and she does a terrific job of changing up her speeds when she’s got the ball in her hands. She handles the ball well and has excellent court vision. She can make passes over or through traffic as well. When the ball isn’t in her hands, she does a good job of moving and cutting rather than standing and waiting for a pass. Quinn can finish with both hands and she’s a good shooter.
