Continue ReadingDuring the month of April and now the beginning of May, Seminole County Middle Schools are in their basketball season. Over the last few weeks, i have been able to watch some games and the playoffs. Here are a few players that have been the most impressive.
Dakara Methie 2026 Wing Greenwood Lakes/CFE
Methie, a smooth, long wing player that shows tons of potential. She plays effortlessly with a lot of composure for such a young player. She can stop on a dime to hit the mid-range and outside 3-ball. Very crafty to get to the basket, uses various fakes, hesitations, and euro-steps to get to the cup. A great transition offensive player keeps her head up while she pushes the ball. On defense, she reads the pass to get the steals, rebounds very well. Along with putting herself in a good position to block shots. During the Championship game versus Jackson Heights she scored 17 points.
Iyanna Banks 2026 SG Milwee
This kid has been shooting lights out. In the first round of the playoffs, she hit 6 3’s in one game. Very quick in transition, gets up and down the floor with pace. She is able to attack the basket and finish through contact. Banks is crafty getting to the basket.
Aanya Patel 2026 PG Sanford Middle
Patel, handles the ball very and controls the flow of the game for the Warriors. She can knock down the mid-range shot along with stepping to hit the long ball. Patel has the ability to get to the basket, attacking, using both the left and right hand to finish. Look forward to seeing this kid throughout the summer and during the upcoming High school season.
Keely Starnes 2026 PF Jackson Heights/OBC
Starnes, a long post that passes very well out of the low post. She shows a very good understanding of the pick and roll. She has a feathery touch from the mid-range. She scored 8 points in the Championship win versus Greenwood Lakes. Very aggressive on the boards, she gets many put backs and dump downs. A strong presence under the basket, deflecting balls and getting blocks.
Rosemarie Lizojo 2026 PG Jackson Heights
Lizojo is a very crafty guard that shows much creativity to get to the basket. Goes to the basket with determination, getting bumped and knocked down, usually finishing to get the And 1. She is the 6th man for the Bobcats, coming off the bench sparking the team.
Nerelis Dealba 2026 PG Greenwood Lakes/CFE
A super quick point guard, that has a nice stroke from the perimeter. She shows a lot of poise and composure while dribbling the ball, pushing the ball up the court. Dealba rebounds well for a guard, she has a nose for the ball. Defensively she moves her feet very well, has active hands. As the point guard, she controls the tempo and distributes the ball to her teammates in the half-court offense. She scored 8 points in the Championship game versus Jackson Heights.
