Mitchell has really expanded her game over the last year. She used to be an athletic wing that made hustle plays. Now, she can handle the ball and distribute like a point guard, has added range on her jumper, and is more than a plus defender.
* Michigan Mystics Finest 2025 is a must see team full of young stars. They’ve developed a deserved reputation for their toughness and competitiveness through the grassroots season. The team of young stars went 5-0 and won a championship at Queen of the Rock.
* Gold Select’s Proving Grounds has announced their field. The talent will be deep with teams like Wayne Memorial, Wyoming, and Farmington. The event will take place on June 25 in Albion starting at 11AM.
* Grand Rapids Storm 2024 took home a title this weekend. They went 4-0 at the Motor City Madness.
* Rylie Burley Rylie Burley 5'6" | PG Leslie | 2025 State MI (2025, PG, The Naturals, Leslie) is proving to be a player to watch.
Burley and The Naturals were at the PGH Buckeye Breakdown this past weekend. Burley has been turning heads this spring and did so once again. She scored from all 3 levels and was fast up the court with the ball in her hands.
* West Michigan Drive 2026 featured some top notch in coming high school talent over the weekend. They went 3-1 at Queen of the Rock. Hailey Durland was a name that I kept hearing from the event. She showed off a pure jumper with 3 point range. Durland is a name to watch next season.
* A hot name right now on the west side of the state seems to be Reese Williams Reese Williams 5'8" | CG Colon | 2024 State MI a combo guard from Colon High School that is playing for Macon 6 Basketball Academy. Williams has played at with their 2023 squad all spring and more than belongs. She has been able to play up and still be a strong ball handler, passer, and scorer off the ball.
* Any college coach that offers Hailey Freshcorn Hailey Freshcorn 5'8" | PG Columbia Central | 2024 State MI is making a great move. She once again proved her worth on the PGH Circuit’s River City Run. A couple weeks ago she flaunted her 3 point shot. This weekend, it was her dribble drive that did damage. Freshcorn can do it all from the lead guard spot and will be a steal at the next level.
* Lauren Nemens Lauren Nemens 6'0" | SF Utica Stevenson | 2022 State MI (2022, SF, SH Stevenson) signed with Hope College.
* Ava Scanlon Ava Scanlon 6'1" | C Grand Ledge | 2023 State MI (2023, C, Grand Ledge, Michigan Mystics ) committed to Grand Valley State University.
* TC Elite is hitting their groove with many players standing out at the PGH River City Run. Taylor Lockhart drew the attention of well respected Prep Girls Hoops scout Alyx White with her defense and passing. Caitlyn Ray, M.J. Mikus, and Julia Johnson Julia Johnson 5'7" | SG Fowlerville | 2023 State MI stood out as well. From the 2026 squad, Stella Shin continued her solid play in the paint and looks to have a nice upside as a player.
* UTS Lady Elite 2026 won the Super 64 championship.
* Bri Thomas Bri Thomas 5'9" | CG Trenton | 2024 State MI (2024, Trenton, Michigan Storm) can’t be under the radar anymore as a shooter and scorer. She can fire off a triple over a defender and bury them at a high clip. Thomas has the chance to be one of the top shooters in the state regardless of class by the time it’s all said and done.
