Everyone raves about her height, and for good reason, but she doesn’t let that define her. She moves well and uses everything in her arsenal to make life difficult for her opponents. On the weekend, she threw up two double-doubles, including one that came against a post-player who had at least 30 pounds on her. She collected her rebounds by getting in position or simply using her long arms in finding the ball. She scored in and around the rim, but also was comfortable popping out for short jumpers and 6- and 7- footers. She’s just a freshman but if she keeps lifting and getting stronger coaches as high as low and mid-major Division I schools definitely need to recruit this young lady.
Cadence Stewart Cadence Stewart 5'8" | SG Greenbrier East | 2023 State WV , OV Dragons 2023 Black, SG, 5-7 – If coaches are interested in a pure shooter always confident and looking for her shot, look no further. Stewart specializes in coming off screens and always looks for the 3 before moving in for an inside-the-arc shot. She analyzes her decisions quickly and acts accordingly. Shots come out smooth, strong and you always get the feeling they’re on point. If there is one thing she will need to do at the next level, it is to get comfortable shooting with someone in her face. She flashed some of that growing confidence this weekend. After a rough first game with the Dragons, she hit at least 3 3s in the last trio of games. They were all around the arc.
Kadie Colebank Kadie Colebank 6'1" | PF Tucker County | 2023 State WV , OV Dragons 2023 Black, C, 6-0 – Colebank is an agressive post player, who hates losing on either end of the floor. Parents and teammates commented on her attitude and ability after almost every game. They liked her approach and how she held a commanding presence. Controlled many of the games the Dragons played alongside her teammates, she blocked shots, fought for rebounds, and helped point out assignments and defensive shifts for her teammates. Coaches who have already seen Colebank on the circuit may want to make another visit, she is completely different than the player who ended the high school season in the Class A state semifinals.
Ava Edwards Ava Edwards 5'7" | SG Nitro | 2025 State WV , OV Dragons 2025 Red, PG, 5-6 – Ava plays with a lot of basketball intelligence, coupled with a help-first, attack-second attitude. She’s a smart guard who sees the action on the floor, but sometimes just needs to let the game come to her. She’s still learning to trust what she sees and sometimes second guesses herself, however, the talent is all there and when it comes together … it is a beautiful thing. In several games this weekend, she was wheeling and dealing, driving the gaps at the right times, and stepping back for the occassional and well-timed three at other times. Overall, it was a great weekend for her, especially with coaches on hand, many of whom are taking notes for kids to recruit in the future.
Zoe Davis Zoe Davis 5'8" | SF St. Marys | 2023 State WV , OV Dragons 2023 Black, SF, 5-9 – I have followed Davis since her freshman year at St. Marys. And there have been mulitple transformations along the way. She’s gone from a forward haunted by her high school coach getting on her case, to a floor leader, capable of taking over entire games. Coincidentally, the latter was the version that showed up for the Dragons in the last four games. Back to full health after a knee injury, she’s looking like her old self. What does that entail? Well. She’s a strong player rarely beaten in terms of her raw power. She used her bulk and strength to bully her defenders, while showing off on offensive game filled to the brim with weapons from strong drives through traffic in the lane to a strong 3-point shot. She knocked down several big shots in the Dragons later games on Sunday.
