Continue ReadingThe Triumph Region of the Prep Girls Hoops Circuit has advanced into mid-May. And with only a few events left on its calendar, there are only a finite amount of laps left in its 2022 rendition.
Emanating from Mainland High School, one of the latest Circuit events was the Southeast Slam at Daytona Beach. It was smaller than most previous events as 30 teams took part and still welcomed a number of out-of-state teams from those such as Georgia, South Carolina and even Illinois.
The first day of Southeast Slam saw a number of standout performances from the 2025 and 2026 classes. Here is a look at who shined in the Sunshine State.
Evie Skog – 2025 – Mother McAuley – Illinois Dream 2025 – Skog can be a key cog for any team that she is on. Listed at 5-foot-5 as one of two Mother McAuley representatives on the roster, she had one of the first noteworthy outings of Southeast Slam when she scored 11 points en route to a Illinois Dream 2025 victory over Florida-based Nona Basketball Academy 2025 Black. Skog has an eye for shooting the 3-pointer as well as for drawing contact which an place her at the free throw line. She is adept as a rim attacker and has no issues falling to the floor in order to complete a play.
Katie Collopy – 2025 – Sandburg HS – Illinois Dream 2025 – Collopy, who also plays volleyball with the Eagles, is setting herself up for a great career at Sandburg. She has already made waves with the freshman Eagles squad and looks to be only getting started. Collopy scored 11 points and only had two fouls called against her in Illinois Dream 2025’s win over Nona Basketball Academy 2025. Much of what she does is in the painted area as she will convert on high-percentage shot opportunities while also being in the correct positions on the floor to attack the rim if necessary. Collopy is one of the taller members of the Illinois Dream 2025 squad at 5-foot-10.
Victoria Rodriguez – 2025 – Faith Christian Academy – Nona Basketball Academy 2025 Black – Rodriguez is a name familiar to Circuit followers as she was part of the 15U First Team from the Triumph Region Kickoff at IMG Academy last month. Her stellar play continued into Southeast Slam. Rodriguez can score from virtually anywhere on the court – including from behind the 3-point line and in the midrange game. She is not afraid of contact that can place her at the free throw line. Rodriguez also displays an impressive ability to take care of the ball and understands how to limit turnovers. In Nona Basketball Academy 2025 Black’s opening matchup with Illinois Dream 2025, she scored 15 points.
Kathleen Crawley – 2027 – Landrum MS – Blue Heat 2026 – Crawley is setting herself up to have coaches running (not crawling) to her to get her on their team. Her team began Southeast Slam with a commanding win over Q4 Elite 2026 and she tallied 15 points en route to the victory. She is an efficient scorer who also plays with a high basketball IQ. Some of those points can come via her shooting 3-pointers. Crawley was in the starting five for the game with Q4 Elite 2026 and displayed exactly why throughout. She has accomplished plenty in her career as a Lion and one would think the accomplishments and accolades will be on the increase as she advances to the high school level.
Caroline Wagner Caroline Wagner 6'1" | C Cherokee | 2025 GA – 2025 – Cherokee HS – Georgia Flames 2025 – At 6-foot-1, there are very few answers for Wagner once she gets going in the paint – and FGC Miracle Aqua 2025 found that out on Saturday morning when they were on the receiving end of a dominant Georgia Flames 2025 performance. Wagner is a force to be reckoned with in the painted area. Once she gets the ball, it is very likely that will be two more points – and it could be three if she gets fouled. Wagner grabs down rebounds, plays with plenty of confidence and will find spacing in the interior to make plays. She scored 16 points in her team’s win.
Ellison Steinhauer – 2026 – Pickens MS – Georgia Flames 2025 – Steinhauer will transition from Pickens MS to Pickens HS to begin her high school career. The Dragons and coach Brandon Thomas will be pleased with what they are getting from her. They are getting a standout who will put plenty of points on the board. In Steinhauer, they will be getting someone who can score by way of draining the 3-pointer and will get herself in position to haul in rebounds. Defensively, she makes things uncomfortable for opposing ball carriers and is a consistent threat to steal the ball. Steinhauer scored 13 points on Saturday.
Isabella Martin – 2025 – Kings Ridge Christian – Georgia Flames 2025 – Isabella. It’s a baller. Martin also finished in double-digits points-wise when her team thrashed FGC Miracle Aqua 2025 to start Southeast Slam. A big reason for that was what she accomplished from behind the arc as she sank three of the team’s 10 triples. In addition, she takes care of the ball and limits turnovers, will attack the rim, can hit her free throws after getting fouled and is as every bit a passer as she is a scorer. Martin finished with 11 points in the win over FGC Miracle Aqua 2025.
Mia Chandler – 2026 – Twins Lakes Academy – Lady OTOD 2026 – Chandler plays travel ball on a travel team with plenty of height as she is one of four near-six footers on the squad. She had a 16-point performance in her team’s rout of Space Coast Fury 2026 on Saturday. Chandler can make tough shots, displays impressive ball handling skills and can dribble the ball among a slew of defenders. She will attack the rim when she has the ball in her hands and also gets set to box out and corral a rebound in case of an opposing free throw shooter’s missed attempt. Chandler was a 14U First Team honoree from the Triumph Region Kickoff at IMG Academy in Bradenton last month.
Aniyah Pearson – 2026 – Somerset Academy – Lady OTOD 2026 – Pearson’s play in her team’s matchup with Space Coast Fury 2026 was key in securing her team’s first victory of the weekend tournament. She had 11 points in what was a 43-5 decision. Pearson can take care of the ball and limit turnovers. Defensively, she will match an opposing ball carrier step for step with her stifling defense. Pearson gets out in transition, can sink her attempts from either midrange or long range and can come away with steals. In addition, Pearson is one who does not give up on any play.
Malayah Matthews – 2027 – Celebration K-8 – Nona Basketball Academy 2025-2 – Matthews is playing two classes up and displayed exactly why when her team earned its first Southeast Slam victory in a game with FGC Miracle Aqua 2025. She will shoot the midrange jumper and has shown prowess as a passer and a ball handler. Matthews runs the floor well and has a knack for making the correct passes – either in a halfcourt set or in the transition game. She also will draw contact which can place her at the free throw line. She finished with 14 points en route to a lopsided victory over FGC Miracle Aqua 2025.
Sapphira Thompson-Woods – 2026 – Timber Springs MS – Nona Basketball Academy 2025-2 – Thompson-woods will leave plenty of opposing teams and coaching staffs looking like they are lost in the woods. Another of the Nona Basketball Academy 2025-2 players who are playing up in class, she can come in from seemingly out of nowhere to make plays – including corralling rebounds and converting on high-percentage shot opportunities near the rim. Thompson-woods is also one of two on the roster that are representing Timber Springs. The 5-foot-6 standout out of the Orlando area finished with nine points in what was a lopsided win over FGC Miracle Aqua 2025.
Tyshana Leverette Tyshana Leverette 5'9" | SF Hampton County | 2026 State SC – 2026 – Ridgeland-Hardeeville HS – H2 Lowco 2026 – This is the latest of several Circuit events H2 Lowco’s gathering of teams will participate in – and Leverette came ready to play. One of the team’s five wings, he can get from one end of the floor to the other with the ball in her hand. Leverette can shoot and hit her attempts from midrange or from long range. She also delivers plenty of hustle plays will track down on opposing ball carriers in transition as a defender to prevent easy layups. Leverette finished with 10 points as H2 Lowco 2026 closed out the first day of Southeast Slam with a win over Illinois Dream 2026.
Lily Termini Lily Termini 5'7" | SF John Paul II | 2026 State SC – 2026 – John Paul II HS – H2 Lowco 2026 – Termini is a multi-sport athlete who has also excelled in volleyball as well as track throughout her athletic career. Termini is a skilled shot blocker who consistently finds herself at the right place at the right time on the court. She also will haul in her fair share of rebounds. Termini will absorb plenty of contact which can give her a good number of chances to sink her free throw attempts. With a good bit of her production coming by way of the charity stripe, Termini finished with 14 points as her team finished the first day of Southeast Slam by defeating Illinois Dream 2026.
Gabby Moore Gabby Moore 5'4" | PG First Baptist | 2027 State SC – 2027 – Christ Our Kind Stella Maris – H2 Lowco 2026 – H2 Lowco’s 2026 roster is very thankful for its gift of Gab. Listed at 5-foot-7 and playing up a year in class, she is one of three on the roster doing exactly that. Moore will try 3-pointers and approaches the game with a tenacious attitude where she will draw contact and head to the free throw line. She keeps her hands out as a defender, scores efficiently and never takes any play or game off. Moore finished the first day of Southeast Slam with a 12-point outing en route to a 47-30 victory over Illinois Dream 2026.
Maddie Kelly – 2027 – Summit Hill Jr. HS – Illinois Dream 2026 – Kelly is one of four 2027s on the Illinois Dream 2026 roster who is playing up a year in class and she is also one of two from her school on the team. When one has the hot hand from downtown, feed that hot hand until it cools off. Kelly can consistently have that hot hand and she will also make good on her free throw attempts. She led her team with 14 points – including 12 by way of the triple – as Illinois Dream 2026 closed out the first day of Southeast Slam with its matchup against South Carolina-based H2 Lowco 2026.
