The Upward Star Center in the Palmetto State’s Upstate was the site for the weekend festivities as the Triumph Region reached its crescendo. Top-tier teams from South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Tennessee and Kentucky all descended on the Upward Star Center for an event that saw Richmond Heat win the 17U and 15U regions. Team Nite Nite 2024 won the 16U championship and South Carolina’s very own Greenwood Storm prevailed in the 14U bracket.
Without further adieu, here is our 15U Second Team list from the Triumph Region Finals.
Arianna Calhoun – 2025 – East Hamilton HS – Hoop-Phi Lady Ballerz 2025 – Calhoun had herself a worthwhile Triumph Region Finals – one that saw her team advance to the 15U championship game against Richmond Heat 2025. Listed at 5-foot-6, she presents an offensive arsenal where she can make things happen from behind the 3-point line as well as at the charity stripe. Calhoun is a versatile defender who can disrupt an opponent’s 3-point attempt with her perimeter defense and also patrols the painted area. In one of Hoop-Phi Lady Ballerz 2025’s victories – a 42-27 decision over Wood Elite 2025, she tallied 10 points.
Journey Smith – 2025 – Sylacauga HS – Alabama Twisters Elite 2025 – Smith’s travel team finished third in the 15U region, but she closed out the first day of the weekend tournament with a strong showing – 13 points in a 48-38 win over Florida Lady Aces 2025. Among those 13 were eight second half scores. Listed at 5-foot-6, Smith can change directions as she is dribbling the ball and can set herself up to haul in rebounds. She also is not afraid of contact and will take her chances from the free throw line. Smith will shoot 3-pointers and her defensive work will put opposing ball handlers at risk of coughing up the rock.
Leanissa Swinton – 2025 – Wilson HS – Lady Sonics 2025 – Swinton closed out Lady Sonics 2025’s schedule at the Triumph Region Finals on the right pair of sneakers as she scored 12 of her team’s points in a 37-27 victory over Georgia-based One Step Away 2025. She is an effective rebounder and that is only part of what makes her such an asset as a force in the frontcourt. Swinton is versatile as a scorer as she can put points on the board either in the paint or as a 3-point shooter. While she will make things happen near the rim, Swinton knows how to find spacing anywhere on the court.
Yamise Haygood – 2026 – Baker County MS – Q4 Elite 2025 – Haygood is playing up a year in class because she plays good. She is listed at 5-foot-6 and is one of seven on the Florida-based travel team roster who is playing up at least a year class-wise. She will put a good deal of points on the board. Haygood is a consummate floor general who ensures her teammates stay involved in the flow of any matchup. Court vision, ball distribution and a high basketball IQ are among the attributes she brings every time she steps on the court. Haygood finished with 16 points in her team’s final matchup on Sunday – against Alabama Twisters Elite 2025.
T’ijah Davis – 2025 – Boiling Springs HS – FCA Eagles 2025 – Including Davis, Bulldogs are well-represented on the FCA Eagles 2025 roster – three from Boiling Springs are on said roster. She provides an imposing paint presence with her height at an even six feet. Davis can play either as a conventional big or as a small or power forward. Her athleticism is not only limited to the basketball court as she has also competed in the track and field realm. Davis finished her time at the Triumph Region Finals with a flourish as she scored 10 points to lead her AAU team against Georgia-based Wood Elite 2025.
