2023 Rankings – New Additions to List – Part 1

It is that time of the year again, when PGHoops California gets to add some worthy athletes to the Rankings list and explain why we are doing it in the evaluations. We seen these girls with our own eyes and wanted to share our evaluations with our audience and see what you think about it. I will also be putting out a rankings poll later this month to see who we missed and get the followers opinion on the girls we have on the list. Remember, rankings are an opinion from the scout, does not mean this is the TRUTH and only truth, it our opinion on what we saw from the athlete in question. She is definitely a key player on her club team this season and does a lot of good things on the floor for her team that contributes to wins.   [player_tooltip player_id="392485" first="Saulele" last="Tanuvasa"] - [player_tooltip player_id="392485" first="Saulele" last="Tanuvasa"] is a powerful player. She works hard, and you can see that she is passionate about her performance. Saulele is attentive on defense and is always looking to grab a steal from the opposite team. Tanuvasa averages 18.1 PPG and 8.0 RPG. Her confidence to score around the basket is remarkable. She can break the press with ease and defenders are no match for her ability to score. There are lots of opportunities for Saulele to improve, and she is a very coachable player. You can see that she is mentally tough on the court, and doesn’t allow for much distraction in the game. As a freshman, she is the star on her team, and will no doubt go far in her high school career. I am excited to watch her develop her game.   [player_tooltip player_id="441056" first="Deyla" last="Davis"] - strong agile guard who knows how to play the game and is one of the toughest defenders on the floor. She can score in a variety of different ways and she is a good teammate, coachable for sure. She pushed the ball for her team and made good decisions and was a vocal leader on the floor as we watched her play. She did a lot of the small things that mattered on the floor and she was not afraid to get after someone on defense.   [player_tooltip player_id="441058" first="Laila" last="Carillo"] - slender guard with a nice game on her, she is tough, she is smooth on the floor and can finish at the rim in transition. She ran the floor like a gazelle and had good hands to catch and finish or to throw back out if she was being doubled. She could score in the midrange and around the rim, but she was an aggressive rebounder that was relentless under the boards for a few putbacks.   [player_tooltip player_id="441059" first="Ron’Yae" last="Jackson"] - runs like a gazelle down the floor and can finish with the acrobatic moves, has great hands and can finish with the best. Defends and is a good rebounder and was a catalyst for the team, as we said she was very agile and athletic, great size body for basketball and was the athlete most want to be. She could score it with some nice moves around the rim and was able to also stop and pop the midrange shot occasionally.
