Fresno, CA - Last weekend, the CIF Central Section held its annual boys and girls Section Championships at Selland Arena, an event that is one of the best basketball championships in the state. Friday featured even division boys and girls championship games (Divisions 2, 4, and 6), while Saturday featured the odd division boys and girls title games (Division 1, 3, and 5). This article focuses on the standout players from Day 2 of the Section Championships from the girls games. In this article I include relevant stats from each player in their respective title game, how they played, and their impact on the game. I start with the standout players from the Saturday night ladies headliner, the D1 title game.

Division 1: Clovis West Golden Eagles 53 Clovis Cougars 41

[player_tooltip player_id='1278027' first='Ryleigh' last='Schoonover'] (6' | 2026) - Clovis West (POG)

Schoonover had a slow start scoring the ball in the D1 Section title game, as Clovis got out to a hot start and held the lead going into the second half, 23 to 21. Schoonover wasted no time going to work in the paint after the intermission and would score 12 of her team-high 15 points in the final two periods of the game. Schoonover also collected 9 rebounds, one shy of a double-double, and added 3 blocks to go along with multiple altered shots around the basket to force the Cougars to settle for perimeter shots. Schoonover controlled the interior and with her big second half and impressive stat-line, she was named Player of the Game for the Lady Eagles, who won its 14th straight Section title and avenged the loss to Clovis that kept it from winning its 21st straight TRAC title. The Lady Eagles will take on St. Mary's of Stockton this evening for a spot in the Girls Open State championship.

[player_tooltip player_id='622536' first='Ramie' last='Chatman'] (5'8 | 2027) - Clovis West

Chatman was the one player that was consistently producing on the scoreboard, the glass, and making plays from start to finish of the D1 Section title game. Chatman put up a third of the Lady Eagles points in the first half, going for 7 points to help keep her team close. Chatman continued to impact the game with 8 more points in the 2nd half for a total of 15 points to lead Clovis West in scoring, along with Schoonover. Chatman also displayed her play making ability off the drive and kick pass, which resulted in 5 assists. As a lead guard, Chatman is a great positional rebounder, evident by her 6 rebounds, which allows her to get in the open court and push the pace of play. In my personal opinion, Chatman and Schoonover should have been co-Players of the Game, but I understand the format.

[player_tooltip player_id='768041' first='Malohni' last='Warren'] (5'7 | 2026) - Clovis West

Warren was the reliable floor spacer for the Lady Eagles in the D1 Section title game, as she would knock down 3 threes in the D1 Section title game. After a 5 point first half, Warren connected on two threes in the 3rd quarter, the first one being the shot that gave Clovis West its first lead of the game with that it held the remainder of the game for the 53 to 41 win over the Cougars. Warren also generated 2 steals to display her impact on the defensive, a huge reason the Cougars were not able to get into a groove offensively.

[player_tooltip player_id='1252593' first='Yazmin' last='Aguilera'] (5'6 | 2026) - Clovis (POG)

Aguilera had a monster start to the game and throughout the first half, as she would account for 12 of the Lady Cougars' 23 first half points, connecting on four threes in the first two periods. Aguilera, like the rest of the Clovis roster outside of Rojas, went cold in the second half, adding a three in the fourth quarter. Aguilera pulled down 5 rebounds and had a game-high 16 points to lead all scorers, which earned her Player of the Game honors for the runner-up Clovis. Her 5 threes displayed her high-level shooting from distance.

[player_tooltip player_id='1252615' first='Milly' last='Rojas'] (5'11 | 2026) - Clovis

Rojas made the move from Monache to Clovis for her senior season, and she was a key addition that helped the Cougars win the TRAC title outright, something no one had done in 20 years with the dominance of Clovis West. Rojas hit one three pointer in the first half, but she went to work in the second half, in particular the fourth quarter, scoring 10 of her 13 points after intermission, doing all she could to keep her team within striking distance. Unfortunately for the Lady Cougars, the rest of the team only accounted for 8 points after halftime, which would allow the Lady Eagles to build a double-digit lead. Rojas connected on 3 threes for the game, and displayed the handles and moves to create off the dribble and get to her shot spots routinely.

Division 3: Immanuel Eagles (Reedley) 49 Shafter Generals 29

[player_tooltip player_id='1257245' first='Kiera' last='Thomas'] (5'7 | 2028) - Immanuel (POG)

Thomas was the best lady hooper I saw all weekend in my perspective, as she put on a clinic in the D3 Section title game win over Shafter. Thomas got hot in the second quarter, scoring 9 points, and 13 for the half, with a pair of threes to help give her team a 24 to 18 lead at the half. Thomas continued to score at a high clip, showing the handles, moves, and shooting efficiency to score off the dribble, as well as the off-ball movement to get to her shot spots, adding 13 more points in the 3rd period, along with 3 more threes. Thomas would finish with a game-high 26 points, connecting on 5 threes overall, to go with 5 rebounds, as she would be the obvious Player of the Game. The sophomore lead guard displayed the court vision to make the right read with the ball in her hands, and great confidence and poise for her grade.

Ava Schletewitz (6'1 | 2026) - Immanuel

Schletewitz uses her size and length to impact the game in various ways, altering shots, scoring from the dunker spot with touch around the basket, control on the glass, and quick hands and timing to deflect or jump passing lanes to generate steals. Schletewitz would end up with 9 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 steals to lead her team to the D3 Section title.

Kyla Schooley (5'11 | 2026) - Shafter (POG)

Schooley was the bright spot for the Lady Generals and put together an impressive senior season, capped off with a solid showing in the D3 Section title game. Schooley would score all 11 points in the first half, and was the main reason her team was able to keep it close for the first 16 minutes of play. Schooley displayed a smooth jumper off the dribble or the catch, the handle to push the ball up the court, as well as attack from the perimeter, and the court vision to make the right read. Schooley also had 4 rebounds and was named Player of the Game for the runner-ups, but she needed more help from her teammates against the talented and tall Immanuel Lady Eagles.

Division 5: Rosamond Roadrunners 43 Santa Ynez Pirates 41

Abigail Cardoza (5'4 | 2026) - Rosamond (POG)

Cardoza had a strong showing in the D5 Section title game to help her team win the championship over the Pirates in a close one, 43 to 41. Cardoza put on a shooting display from beyond the arc, connecting on 4 threes in the game, and scoring a game-high 17 points. Cardoza was named Player of the Game for the Roadrunners.

Nadiyah Baladez (5'8 | 2026) - Rosamond

Baladez had an impressive stat-line in the D5 title game and was a key reason for Rosamond's win. Baladez had 11 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists to display her overall impact on the game scoring and play making.

Ariel Cain (5'20 | 2026) - Rosamond

Cain controlled the glass and allowed her team second chance scoring opportunities, as well as limiting the opponent to single shot possessions. Cain had 13 rebounds to go with her 8 points and 3 steals, as her impact on the defensive end would be pivotal to Rosamond's championship win.

Rylan Agin (5'8 | 2026) - Santa Ynez (POG)

Agin had a strong showing shooting the ball in a tough two point loss in the D5 Section title game, 43 to 41. Agin connected on 4 threes and scored a team-high 15 points to help capture the Player of the Game honors for the Pirates.

Helina Pecile (5'10 | 2026) - Santa Ynez

Pecile put up a solid effort in the D5 Section title game, as she would score 13 points, to go along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals. Pecile impacted both ends of the court.
