Quick Day 1 11th/12th Grade Notes from MAYB Summer Kickoff

The MAYB Summer Kickoff began this evening, June 10, in the Wichita area.  37 teams from Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Arkansas, Nebraska, Iowa, and Kansas make up the 11th/12th grade division - the division I will be covering this weekend.  Pool play began the tonight. It continues Saturday, with bracket play beginning once pool play ends.  While some 2022s are playing my coverage will only encompass 2023 and younger players.  Below are some rough, quick notes on several players I saw. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='450344' first='Ava' last='Baker']</strong>, 5'9", SF, Louisburg, Lady Cats Tally, 2023 - Fast. Athletic. Score in mid-range and on-the-fly with elevation. Jump shooting ability. [player_tooltip player_id="198382" first="De'Keira" last="Clay"], 5'9", PG, Wichita West, Lady Pioneers, 2024 - Great to see Clay step on the floor again against the toughest draw of the field, Kansas United 2022.  Fast. Athletic, strong handles with a tough cross-over. She starts finding the consistent mark her three-point range will be from the parking lot. [player_tooltip player_id="298586" first="Alexis" last="Dukes"], 5'9", PF, McPherson, Lady Bullpups, 2023 - Defensive quickness is there. Good frame. Runs well. Nice cross-over dribble off a steal.  Athleticism. Looks to be putting it all together. [player_tooltip player_id="227692" first="Leah" last="Durr"], 5'11", PF, Cheney, KS Dream Team, 2023 - Durr is put together. Good frame and size. Strong. Can elevate well and quickly around the basket to put back offensive boards or finish an entry pass. Solidly transitions from offense to defense and vice versa. [player_tooltip player_id="396403" first="Madison" last="Moors"], 5'9", PF, McPherson, Lady Bullpups, 2023 - Defends opposing bigs with physicality and energy. Runs well. Athletic. Strong. [player_tooltip player_id="191482" first="Jordan" last="Sears"], 5'10", SF, McPherson, Lady Bullpups, 2023 - Nice spin move off the bounce to finish. Handles - broke defender's ankles with a behind the back cross-over for a top-of-the key look. [player_tooltip player_id="265128" first="Ashley" last="Singhateh"], 5'7", PG, Eureka, Lady Tornados, 2023 - Pushes the ball up the floor. Leads the down-the-floor pass well to rack up the assist. Quick with strong handles. [player_tooltip player_id="335936" first="Delanie" last="Tally"], 5'7", SG/PG, Louisburg, Lady Cats Tally, 2023 - Slides well into space off the pass to set up a shot off the return pass. [player_tooltip player_id='450345' first='Lindsey' last='Wisdom'], 5'11", PF, Holton, Lady Cats Boswell, 2023 - Impact player. Solid build with offensive quickness off the bounce especially going her right. Finishes well.
