If you know anything about the history of Birmingham City Schools' Girls' Basketball; Wenonah Lady Dragons is the program. Beginning back in the 80's with Coach Eleanor Pitts to Coach Emanuel Bell continuing to carry the torch into this millennial. Coach Bell had that run of 4 straight state titles; 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017. The program is run now by a former Lady Dragon, Coach Trellice Moore. This will be her 3rd year as a head coach there, and she has challenged this young group to learn each other and become a state contender once again.

When asked about her team this upcoming season; [player_tooltip player_id='330737' first='Kenya' last='Nunn'] is consistent in this group; a good shooter and is the coach/leader on floor; high basketball IQ and the daughter of a former Lady Dragon; Kendra Hawkins. There are two other seniors, one that has played for Coach Moore since 7th grade; Bleu McFarland and transfer Ta'nia Peoples. Ta'nia is a dominant post player that is coming off an injury from last year. Look for these seniors to be the hardest workers and hustling for all loose balls. Her newcomer of the year will be [player_tooltip player_id='469642' first='JaKerria' last='Ringstaff'] that is also coming off of an ACL injury, and is going to make up for lost time on the court. Coach is looking for 2025 [player_tooltip player_id='323418' first='Samarian' last='Franklin'] to continue being the leading scorer. Samarian aka Shorty can score in bunches and sees the floor very well and sets her teammates up for easy buckets. She can take her defender off the dribble with the ability to get the basketball or shoot that pull-up jumper. The reason this young lady is currently top 10 in her class in the state of Alabama.
