Last weekend the annual Battle in the Boro tournament took place in Louisville, Kentucky. Originally started in the Murfreesboro/Nashville, Tennessee, area, the event moved to Louisville a few years ago but is set to return to the Volunteer State in 2023. There were 50 courts of action with teams primarily from the Midwest and the South involved. This is the third of three articles highlighting Indiana ladies who stood out when I was able to see their teams at this event.

She has a fairly strong frame with some length, and it's her ability to face the basket and knock down shots that stands out. Now, she does play with a motor, and she's willing to be physical and rebound, but on a fairly sizeable grassroots team, she is relied upon more to pick-and-pop or find open space and be ready to shoot off of others. I like her inside-out versatility offensively, and a number of small colleges I've talked to do as well.

But after a Winter without her big sister around, she has really stepped up and become a much more impactful offensive weapon. She has the size and strength to score the ball consistently on the block, she has really nice touch in the 15-foot range, and she's starting to knock down the occasional 3-pointer. Defensively, she blocks/alters shots with regularity, she rotates to help well, and she can get out on the floor, sit down, and defend ball-screens.

[player_tooltip player_id="295791" first="Kaelyse" last="Mitchell"], 2025, 6-5 C, Evansville F.J. Reitz H.S., [program_tooltip program_id='715504' first='Pocket' last='City Basketball'] 15U
- Kaelyse started to find a groove during the Spring grassroots season, but then she had to take some time off due to health-related issues. She returned for the Boro and was solid. She has some length, great size, and she is almost dominant at times because she just towers over her opponents. She is starting to show good hands, better finishing moves around the rim, and she's rotating much better defensively. She will still need to work on her consistency and explosiveness, but she has come a long way.

Samantha Price, 2025, 6-1 F/C, Westfield H.S., [program_tooltip program_id='712574' first='Indy' last='Magic']-Blanding 15U
- The Boro was my first opportunity to see Sam in action, and she is very intriguing at the least. She is extremely long and wiry, she plays with a nice motor and runs the floor well, and she was much more physical than her frame might suggest. She caught the ball well, adjusted finishes around defenders, and grabbed a number of offensive rebounds in the time I got to see her. I'm not sure what kind of game she has away from the basket, but she was effective inside in my viewings of her last week.

[player_tooltip player_id="295778" first="Leah" last="West"], 2025, 6-1 F, Greensburg H.S., [program_tooltip program_id='712566' first='Indiana' last='Elite'] Drive 15U
- Leah has been strong all Spring and Summer, whether it's with her Drive team or her Pirate team. She is doing many more things offensively, from putting the ball on the floor and attacking the basket, to looking to knock down the 3-point shot. She has nice strength and plays with physicality, so for her to have the option to be a diverse scorer, it will really open up a lot of opportunities for her moving forward. I also think she has done a nice job of sitting down and defending the perimeter much better than a year ago.

[player_tooltip player_id='1266853' first='Joslyn' last='Chesser'], 2026, 5-10 F/C, Silver Creek H.S., [program_tooltip program_id='712550' first='IGB' last='']-Johnson 14U
- Joslyn is a solidly built front-liner with nice length and some athleticism. When I saw her, she played quite a bit with her back to the basket, but she also faced the basket in the mid-post from time to time. If she can make that 15-foot game consistent, she could be a really nice inside-out forward offensively. She will have Brooklyn Renn (below) alongside her for four years, which should afford her a lot of open shots. She also displayed the athleticism to eventually come out onto the floor and defend the perimeter a little bit.

[player_tooltip player_id='486543' first='Brooklynn' last='Renn'], 2026, 6-1 F, Silver Creek H.S., [program_tooltip program_id='712550' first='IGB' last='']-Schoen 14U
- Brooklynn is one of those kids who, if she puts the time in throughout her high school career, the sky is the limit. She is extremely long, tall, and fluidly athletic. I'm also not sure she's done growing yet. She is developing perimeter skill, which is scary, and she does a solid job of putting it on the floor and attacking the basket. She has some touch, but as that becomes more consistent and her handle gets lower and tighter against pressure, she could be more of a wing than a forward. She flashes a great deal of potential/upside.
