The Orlando Splash wrapped up day 3 of its event at the Orlando Convention Center. The class of 2027 in Florida has a lot of talent, here are the five players that stood out the most in 2027, making up The Starting Five.
Gianna Conklin-Jones Gianna Conklin-Jones 5'7" | SG Cocoa | 2027 State FL 5’4 PG (2027 East Coast United Family)
Conklin-Jones is a confident point guard who is mature for her age. She has the ball on a string in the open court pushing in transition and in the half court. She has several combo moves that she uses to juke her defenders 1v1 and has a solid mid-range pull up off the dribble.
Makayla White 5’0 PG (2026 TNBA Florida South)
Playing up one division, White is a 5’0 Point Guard in the class of 2027 who is quick! She pushes the ball aggressively in transition, hunting the paint. Once she gets into the paint, she creates shots for herself and her teammates. On the other side of the ball, she is a scrappy and aggressive defender who applies a lot of ball pressure.
Kori Edge 5’4 PG (Miami Suns Select)
Edge is a very savvy and confident point guard who does a good job finding open players. She changes speed and direction well and has a very calming presence on the court if what is often chaotic game situations at the 2026 and 2027 divisions. Playing up a division, Edge stood out for her excellent ball skills, ability to get to the rim, and excellent passing skills.
Jalynn Belton 5’8 Wing/Forward (Miami Suns Select)
Belton fresh off an offer from Florida State slid down and played in the 2026 division after playing 15U EYBL in the first half of July. Belton is bigger and stronger than everyone, even when playing one division up as a 2027 in the 2026 division. And while her combination of size and strength stand out initially, she backs it up with her offensive skill. Built like a power forward, Belton plays 1-5. She has excellent ball skills, advancing the ball up the court both as a point guard and after grabbing defensive rebounds and starting the break. She attacks well of the bounce and when she gets to the rim, uses her size and build to draw contact and finish at the rim or get to the free throw line.
Brianna Matthews 5’9 Forward (2027 East Coast United Family)
Matthews was the biggest thing walking on the court by several inches and she made her presence known in the 2027 division. She was all over the boards on both ends as she is near impossible to move out of the paint and she is very active in going after balls. She has good hands and finished well around the rim. She controlled the paint on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. She has potential to be a bit time prospect.
