Bocca checked all of the boxes on Day 1 of the tournament: High Basketball IQ – Check; Good Shooter – Check; Good Handles – Check; Good Defender – Check. Bocca looked like a coach out there on the basketball court. She communicates on the court and points players to their position on the court. She sets herself up for plays and also does the same with her teammates. The game doesn’t move too fast for the point guard, and she seems to always make the correct basketball play and usually she is a step ahead. She handles the ball very well and can drive left or right. She is versatile and can play the shooting guard position as well. She has an ability to put the defense at her mercy and can make a team pay for mistakes. Bocca shot the ball well, and especially down the stretch. There was a point in the game where she had missed about three straight threes, but as the game tightened in the final moments, Bocca connected on several threes and helped secure the victory. Defensively, Bocca plays in your face and is very good with her on ball defense. She constantly applies pressure and never allows the opposition to get comfortable on the court.
Talia Kemp Talia Kemp 5'6" | PG Central FL Christian Academy | 2024 State FL CG (J Sizzle 2024). Everything said about her teammate Bocca also applies to Kemp. She is a leader out there on the court and she definitely has plenty of “sizzle” to her game. She literally can do everything on a basketball court. She put together a string of plays that appeared as follows: “Kemp hits a step back three, Kemp with a floater in the middle of the paint, Kemp with the steal and finish with the right hand, and Kemp on fast break with a bounce pass assist from just over half court.” The handles are impressive and allows her to go anywhere on the court she wants to. Kemp is a complete player and can really play defense. She is quick and has great lateral movement. She applies relentless pressure on the ball and is very savvy on the help side defense as well. Kemp was sizzling on Day one. She was top-notch.
