We have plenty of players to talk about and so much film to go over. In this series, we’ll be going to the tape, checking out some recent game film of players in AAU tournaments, summer league play and more. Here’s a look at some of the players we’ve highlighted in this first article.
Amarilis Shubick – 5-4 PG, St. Thomas Aquinas (2024, Team Miller)
We start off with a smaller guard in Shubick, someone who doesn’t let height get in the way of being successful on the floor. She’s blossomed in a role this summer with Team Miller, building off immense success she had as a sophomore. For smaller guards, especially those that can shoot like Shubick, getting open looks on-ball or making quick moves off-ball to separate from defenders is really the key. She’s someone who can shoot with traffic in front of her, adding another level of efficiency and dominance to her game.
Adriana Bristow – 5-7 G, Wildwood Catholic (2025, NJ Shoreshots)
Bristow is a repeat customer for us here at PGH NJ, someone we talked about previewing the AAU season and someone we’ve kept a close eye on with the Shoreshots. She is someone who came off the bench for Wildwood Catholic last season, but should have a significant minutes increase this winter. This summer has been her proving ground to show that she’s one of the best 2025s in the state, and it’s as simple as more playing time for her to be more successful.
Kyley Gary-Grayson – 5-7 G, West Orange (2025, United NJ)
Gary-Grayson has carved out a great path to success for her moving forward. This summer with United NJ has definitely shown she can play on both sides of the ball and built upon that freshman year success at West Orange. I really like her aggression in the paint as she’s not afraid to get physical with opponents, use her body to her advantage and post up more. While the height advantages might not always be there, that physicality plays in a game that’s becoming more fast pace. It will help slow down the game to her pace.
Yana Shupak – 5-5 PG/SG, Toms River East (2024, NJ Shoreshots)
Shupak has big three and D potential, which fits into her game well right now in her sophomore summer with NJ Shoreshots. This combo guard is more than capable of handling the offense and being a team leader. As a rising junior, those leadership characteristics are going to come into play more and she’s more than ready for that challenge. Shupak shoots really well and gets herself into great positions and opportunities to do well. That defense has come a long way as well over the past year or so, especially in the summer.
Tessa Lozner – 5-3 G, Gill St. Bernard’s (2025, United NJ)
Lozner is one of the most underrated guards in the 2025 class and has really emerged more on to the scene this summer with United NJ. She plays with a level of swagger and confidence that shines on the floor. She’s aggressive toward the hoop and really likes to push the tempo in the paint. Lozner is one who can cut flawlessly into the lane or flush out to the wing to get a kick-out for a quick three. She’s fast with a great eye for the game and just knows when to make the right play and when to take matters into her own hands.
