2022 City Rankings: Memphis " Bluff City" Edition

Bluff City! Not just home of BBQ, this city is most definitely a hoops town. A place where the roundball is a lifestyle. You have to earn your right to be on these courts down in the 901. Girls around there, they get after it. From the saucy ball handles, to knocking down clutch shots, to grinding in the paint, the girls from the Bluff city, well, they don't bluff when it comes to their game.   Memphis girls have a certain grit and grind to them. It's in their DNA. They are going to go after it will a little style and flair along the way. These hard working young ladies who call this city home, put in the time night in and night out. No matter the season, travel ball or high school, prepare to get 94ft of chaos anytime a Memphis team takes the floor. They are going to give you heck the entire ball game.   The 2022 Memphis city rankings are all about girls who don't mind getting it done. Doing the little things to help propel their team to rise above. These girls are tough, hungry, and willing to lay it all on the line for the game. Ladies and gentlemen, here are your 2022 City Rankings for the city of Memphis. Coming off a summer where she trained at the USA 17U trials, Mallory showed why she is one of the most dominating post players in the state. Displays a nice body work around the rim, where she has a plethora of back to the basket moves. Has a nice mid-range game. Controls the boards on both ends. Blocks shots. The Memphis commit is phenomenal with the ball in her hands. Can get to the rim, knock down shots, facilitate the rock, you name it, she is an all-around player. On D, she uses her wing-span as an advantage. Deflects passes, pokes balls away, blocks shots, contributes on the boards. High energetic kid with tons of potential.   [player_tooltip player_id='344784' first='Daejah' last='Richmond'] (5'9/ Sr./ PG/ FACS)- Definition of a bucket. This high-energy guard is crazy athletic and has a bounce to her game. Has a quick first step that enables her to attack gaps to unleash her unbelievable floater game or finish at the rim. She has a nice shot to go along with her style of play. On defense, she uses her length to disrupt opponents. This SEMO commit is crazy good. Nice mid-range game to compliment her ability to finish around the rim. Hustle player who contributes on D. Pushes the ball up the floor in transition, fits balls in tight spaces to create scoring opportunities for her teammates.   Clemesha Prackett (6'2/ Sr./ W/ Memphis Central)- Big anchor in the middle that has a big persona off the floor. Spits fire in the booth as well as gets it done on the floor. Scores well around from multiple spots on the floor. Finishes around the rim and is an elite rebounder. Plays the game at a high level.   Aaliyah Converse (5 '7/ Jr./ CG/ St. George's Independent)- Energetic PG who is always in attack mode. Can get down hill, finish at the rim, nice mid-range game, and can shoot it from the 3pt line. Doesn't get fazed by pressure, can handle the rock in clutch moments. Great in transition, she is going to finish on the plus side more often than not. Lockdown defender on D, shes going to give her opponents chaos everytime the ball tips off.   Cryst'ianna “Shaq” Whitehead (5'11/ Sr./ W/ Memphis Business Academy)- the UAPB commit is a super tough kid. Multi-level scorer who can put the ball at the bottom of the net. Unselfish kid who makes the right play. Has a great presence on the floor, where she can find open teammates or hunt great shots. Contributes on the defensive end as well. Hard working kid who doesn't back down from a challenge.   [player_tooltip player_id='285346' first='Jeurnei' last='Wright'] (5'8/ Sr./ G/ Whitehaven)- Shifty guard who is always in attack mode. Someone you definitely need to keep an eye on. Sometimes overlooked, her game speaks volumes every time she takes the floor. Multi-level scoring threat who can score buckets. Can get to the rim with ease, she doesn't back down from a challenge. Swiss army knife who is always in “Go” mode. Great two-way player who impacts the game in so many ways. From playing lockdown D, scoring the ball, making timely assists, she makes any night a long one every time she steps on the floor.   Tristan Spearman (5'4/Jr./ PG/ Memphis East)-  Super tough and athletic guard who is phenomenal with the ball in her hands. Knows how to run an offense. High IQ. Knows when to go or pull back. Hunts great opportunities for herself as well as her teammates. Anticipates well. Pushes the ball in transition, has the ability to thread the needle or get to the rim. Can shoot it consistently from beyond the arc. Active hands and active feet on D, she's creates chaos every time she steps in between the lines.   [player_tooltip player_id='425322' first='Paige' last='Whitted'] (5'9/ So./ PG/  Collierville)- young hooper who plays the game with poise. Doesn't get rattled in the face of pressure. Incredible with the ball in her hands as she is looking to hunt great shot attempts or attack down hill. Can get to the paint area to finish around the rim or unleash her mid-range game. Can knock it down from beyond the arc consistently. Facilitates the ball well. Hustle player on D, she's going to lock up her opponent 94ft.   [player_tooltip player_id='409105' first='Tyler' last='Jones'] (5'7/So./ G/ Hutchison)- Super tough kid who has a lot of tools in her tool belt. She's a bucket. Can get to the rim. Knock down shots from multiple levels. She's let's that ball fly! Kid can get down hill using her speed. Isn't afraid to challenge opponents on the defensive end, where she is looking to poke balls away. Young but will be force to be reckoned with for the next couple of years.   [player_tooltip player_id='409005' first='Zoey' last='Rixter'] (6'1/ So/ G/ Bartlett)- Starting to come into her own, this long winged guard is making an impact on the floor. Blessed with size and speed, she is taking advantage of mismatches whether it be inside the paint or outside the arc. Runs the floor well, finished contested buckets. Can play multiple positions. Growing in confidence, look for her to take major leaps as she continues to grow in the game. Competitive player who doesn't shy away from competition and is going to bring it nightly. Has a nice first step that allows her to get down hill. Great two-way player who contributes in multiple statistical categories. Excels on the defensive end, where she creates turnovers by her infectious pressure D. Can push the ball up the court, attacking gaps on her way to the cup. Sees the floor well. Can shoot it consistently from all 3 levels. Great kid who has tremendous upside.   Ka'Mbili “ Stix” Nelson (5'11/ Jr./ W/ Arlington)- A true grinder, she's going to give you everything she's got. Has a great inside and out game. Tough kid on the offensive end. She can knock down shots, get to the paint, finish on the boards, you name it. This kid has great footwork that allows her counter moves to come out when attacking the rim. Contributes on the defensive end, where she prides herself in getting stops. This kid's confidence is growing each time she steps on the floor.   Faye Williams (6'1/ Fr./ G/ Bartlett)- Big guard who is versatile. Can handle the rock, crash the boards, and score on all 3 levels. Super athletic and can get up and down the floor. High energy kid who has tremendous upside. Look for her to continue to grow as she has yet to reach her ceiling.   Madyson Elliot (5'7/ So./ PG/ Lausanne)- Scoring threat from all over, this girl has a motor on her. Can unleash it from beyond the arc, penetrate gaps, finish against contact at the rim. Great defender who is looking to create turnovers. Look for her to take big-time leaps as she continues to thrive on the high school level.   Serenity Austin (5'9/ So./ PG/ Memphis Business Academy- Lockdown defender who is an absolute “dog” on the defensive end. She is going to lock you don the full length of the floor. High IQ, plays the game with a high motor. Can light it up from the outside, can get to the rack using her great foot speed. Always looking to push the ball in transition, finding open teammates for easy shot attempts.   [player_tooltip player_id='290717' first='Carrington' last='Jones'] (5'7/ Jr./ W/ Bartlett)- Energetic kid who plays the game with a passion. Exceptional driver, she's going to attack the rim. Can finish tough contested layups. Hard working player on D, she's always looking to make a play that will lead to easy buckets going the other way.   Curnesha Taylor (5'9/ Fr./ G/ Memphis Business Academy)- Super talented freshman who makes a huge impact. Can score buckets. From downtown or the painted area, the ball is going to find the bottom of the net. Sees the floor well, great defender. Heady player who will be a force to deal with throughout her high school career.   Worthy of mentioning: These three girls attended  Fayette Ware last year and moved to Rossville Academy in Mississippi. Please keep them on your radar.
