With well over 300 players now listed, there’s so many to cover and talk about. That being said, we’re breaking things down position-by-position, like in this article, the top five point guards in the 2023 class.
No. 1: Hannah Hidalgo Hannah Hidalgo 5'7" | PG Paul VI | 2023 State NJ – 5-7, Paul VI (No. 1 overall)
Hidalgo has been the real deal her entire high school career and is just getting better over time. She’s the best player in South Jersey, a recent gold medalist with Team USA, a future Division 1 standout once she makes her college decision, the list goes on-and-on. if you haven’t seen that between-the-legs layup she pulled out at Rucker Park yet, that’s all the video you need to see on this superstar.
No. 2: Kyla Glasser-Hyman Kyla Glasser-Hyman 5'6" | PG Hightstown | 2023 State NJ – 5-6, Hightstown (No. 6 overall)
Glasser-Hyman absolutely wowed anyone who watched her last season, putting up insane numbers and balancing out her game in a number of ways. We know how great of a scorer she is, but she can beat you in a number of ways and she’s a fantastic foul shooter as well. Glasser-Hyman excels at the little things well, coming a long way as a facilitator and breaking out as a perimeter defender. Speed + court awareness = nightmares for opponents.
No. 3: Jada Jacobs Jada Jacobs 5'7" | PG Medford Tech | 2023 State NJ – 5-7, Medford Tech (No. 32 overall)
The Jada Jacobs Jada Jacobs 5'7" | PG Medford Tech | 2023 State NJ hype train is growing in numbers after a great junior season for Medford Tech, one where she showcased how well she can run an offense and how easily she can take over a game offensively. Jacobs really excels on the offensive end of the floor, but we’re looking for more production in passing and overall defense, something that she’s almost definitely been working on in the offseason. The best guards are the most well-rounded guards.
No. 4: Neysa Aguilar Neysa Aguilar PG Middlesex | 2023 State NJ – 5-5, Middlesex (No. 35 overall)
Aguilar followed up a great Covid season with an even better junior year for Middlesex, showing considerable improvements across the board. She looks like a more confident shooter and scorer, but she’s become that much more reliable as a defender, racking up steals on top of steals each game. Steals translate to fast break opportunities and points, which Aguilar has taken full advantage of thus far. The 1000 point club is well within her grasp.
No. 5: Kaitlyn King Kaitlyn King 5'9" | PG Lenape | 2023 State NJ – 5-9, Lenape (No. 44 overall)
King honestly came out of nowhere as a junior, something many players on Lenape did after a stellar season that kept the program competitive in the ever-competitive Olympic Conference. She was helped out by players like Alexa Henry Alexa Henry 5'6" | CG Lenape | 2025 State NJ , players that she could bounce off of, players she could dish the ball to with confidence. On top of that, she gained her own level confidence offensively, something she hopes to build upon as a senior.
