In specific, I want to highlight some rising sophomores who have the potential to make that leap and become notable players in the state of Wisconsin.
Lydia Aalsma Lydia Aalsma 5'10" | SG Waupun | 2025 State WI
I first saw the youngest Aalsma at Summer Jam in an auxiliary gym at Shakopee High School in Minnesota, and she was one of the most talented kids in the gym. She’s a legitimate 5-foot-10 who defended one through four and ran the floor better than anyone in that gym. Offensively, you can see the silhouette of an elite combo guard who can thrive on and off the ball. Shot selection can be a little questionable at times, but she has the confidence in herself to make something out of nothing, and I love it.
Peyton Musial Peyton Musial 6'0" | SG Notre Dame | 2025 State WI
The Notre Dame wing has already contributed to a state-title-winning team and earned some division one offers over the summer. The Triton is a long and rangy athlete with a picturesque jumper, resulting in an outstanding 3P% of 56% as a freshman with a reasonable volume. Although her role shouldn’t change too much, with senior Sarah Hardwick graduating, Musial will likely get some extra minutes, and I expect she’ll take that opportunity and run with it.
Isabelle Freisleben Isabelle Freisleben 5'11" | PF New Berlin West | 2025 State WI
I think a good barometer of New Berlin West’s season will be the play of Isabelle Freisleben Isabelle Freisleben 5'11" | PF New Berlin West | 2025 State WI . Everyone knows what Meghan Schultz Meghan Schultz 6'4" | C New Berlin West | 2023 State WI can do around the basket, and every team in the Woodland-West will gameplan around the UWGB commit. However, I can’t think of a more perfect four to place next to the 6-foot-4 center than Freiesleben. She’s a versatile kid who can play as a wing or with her back to the basket. If things click for the Vikings, they could surprise some people in a talented conference.
Abby Hollis Abby Hollis 5'7" | CG Albany | 2025 State WI
I think Hollis could make a splash in the Division 5 ranks this year. The Albany guard is confident and not afraid to shoot in defenders’ faces and rack up 20 points in a hurry. When she gets into a rhythm, she can become difficult for anyone to defend, and some good schools won’t have the resources to slow her down. Of the returning kids in D5, I expect Hollis will make a sizeable jump statistically. She’ll earn her reputation as one of the most dangerous scorers in D5 quickly.
