Laconia went undefeated in Flyway Conference play and made it to the Division 4 State Title game, where they were one uncharacteristic shooting game away from winning a state title. This season, the Spartans have most of their team back to defend the conference title and make it back to Resch. Let’s meet some kids in the Flyway.
Tierney Madigan Tierney Madigan 5'10" | SG Laconia | 2025 State WI
After a first-team all-conference season as a freshman, Madigan has set herself up to continue and excel at Laconia. She is a versatile wing who can score any way you’d like. The rising sophomore has excellent shooting touch from behind the 3-point line and is light on her feet when attacking the basket. She can split defenders and handle the ball well on the perimeter. She had an excellent freshman campaign. I expect her sophomore season to be just as impressive.
Aubrey Leonard Aubrey Leonard 5'8" | PG Laconia | 2025 State WI
Yet another class of 2025 from Laconia, Leonard also had an excellent freshman campaign. Although her numbers may not scream elite shooter as a freshman, I believe she is consistent in her motion, and her form is congruent with gifted. It’s only a matter of time before her shot starts falling at a high clip.
The Winnebago Lutheran Academy wing was a low-volume but highly accurate shooter last season. Although she caused more damage to defenses in the paint and was effective, she could be a lethal shooter in the Flyway. She shot 39% on just over two attempts per game as a sophomore. She used the threat of her jumper to get to the basket well, which worked for her. However, there is potential for her to hit a silly amount of 3s in a game due to her track record shooting the ball with her 5-foot-11 size, which will help her get her shot off consistently if she wants to shoot more.
The rising Winnebago Lutheran Academy guard is an extremley active defender on the perimeter. She earned four steals per game as a junior and was a unanimous first-team, all-conference performer. Shea created havoc on the ball and created transition opportunities for herself and her teammates. With Shea, the Vikings have a chance to beat some teams most think they couldn’t because she can mess up the rhythm of a team’s offense on her own. Don’t be surprised if the Vikings make some noise in the conference this season.
